Where the hell I have been and why your order isn't done yet.

Bob, my condolences to you on the passing of your parents and my heart felt best wishes for your wife's speedy recovery and you being able to get back to somewhat normal. Geoff.

Why our cars get bad fuel milage

Well guys, this has been an interesting revision of a post I put up over a year ago as a bit of a joke, but it's taken on a whole new life. It was never mean to be serious and even I have added to it with some serious stuff. However, the bottom line is; do we really care that much about milage...

Why our cars get bad fuel milage

Boats are expensive for sure. I've not owned a "big boat", but at least the one I had was trailered and I could buy gas at a gas station for 59 cents/liter in 1989! That boat could run all day pulling water skiers for 25 bucks. As for you only using 1 tank a year........... you definitely need...

    Long Live the V8 Mustang!

Somebody has lost their marbles at Ford. Mustang is for sure the "hottest name" they have, but don't call every new innovation a "Mustang" just because. It was bad enough when Chrysler bought out the Dodge Charger in 2006 as a 4 door, but at least there was a reason for that, to develop a new...

Why our cars get bad fuel milage

I have the complete history on this car and yes, she owned it for over 30 years. Regretfully she passed away shortly before I was able to discover the history 2009. I would have loved to have been able to talk to her. Ironically, her passing is what lead me to this information through her obituary.

    Mustang Event in Chatham-Kent Ontario

I live in Chatham, and have not seen that............ not to say it's no happening, Something to check on for sure. While I'm here, on May 25th, we have RetroFest going on downtown. The event is from May 24 & 25th with many events covered. The car show usually attracts 600+ cars, so BE...

Why our cars get bad fuel milage

This picture is a copy from an original leger that the first owner kept on my car. I was fortunate enough to have been given this leger, which was kept up to date for the first 3 years of ownership. The prices will be remembered by many I'm sure. However, don't loose sight of the fact that back...

Why our cars get bad fuel milage

Even if I could get it, it would still be cheaper to run 91 with ethanol and put up with less milage. Oh, and have you guys in the States heard about our wonderful government's "carbon tax" on fuel and just about everything.......... ok, let's not go there.

Why our cars get bad fuel milage

It goes to show that people DO search through older threads!! Ironically, since I first posted this, our ONLY non ethanol gas in Ontario, Canada, Shell V Power 91 octane, the f'n government has forced ALL gasoline to have at least 10% ethanol. At the end of last season, I had to fill the tank...

    Added Grille Lights

I've got to admit, that is strange to say the least!! An unbelievable "law" to say the least. I get that you want to bypass the yearly inspection, but not being able to drive at dusk or night is totally ridiculous. Do the state "idiots" think the car might fall apart after dark??

    P/S pump swap

If it works, job done! However, being as you have the old pump basically stripped, why not pull it apart and see if it's ok inside. I suggest taking pics as you go through it so you assemble it correctly. However, if shaft steel bushing is worn, i.e. the shaft can move (other than go round of...

Any idea what these nuts might be for?

Well, while we're here talking of things found in our cars from the factory, I found 3 almost pristine build sheets in mine. Not to brag or anything, but 3 seems to be very unusual. Two were under the back under pad, driver side and the third was under the front seat under pad. I'll not post the...

    P/S pump swap

I'll never claim to be an expert, but I have rebuilt a couple of pumps recently. In my case, it was leaks that needed to be fixed, but in the process, I went through the entire pump inner works. There is not much to these, but tolerances are very tight between the eccentric cam and the...

Any idea what these nuts might be for?

Talking of finding things in our cars that were dropped by line workers, I found a brake pedal rubber (4 speed car) under the front carpet under pad, so had been there since day 1. I still have it in my stash.
