  1. So I had a rattle on the front passenger side of my 71 Mach 1. To start with I took the front wheel off check to make sure all the suspension components were tight without any rattles. Looked at the brakes everything seemed fine. My hood I thought was a little bit loose so I tightened up the adjusters on the inside to take up any slack. Some of the rattle went away but I still had a rattle? Next I thought I might have a broken shock or coilover. A quick look and some quick testing by pushing down on the fender confirmed the shock and spring were fine. So I took it over to a buddy of mine to do

  4. This may help you determine if you have a Detroit Locker. https://explorationoutfitters.com/pages/detroit-locker-faq If it is not a Detroit Locker, but is a Traction-Lok friction modify (Motorcraft XL-3) may not have been added after a clutch pack exchange. Too much pre-load on the clutch pack will cause tires to chatter during a slow speed turn. Chuck

  5. 4.5 leaf springs would be my choice. (I have 5 leafs and they are stiff and can be punishing) I concur that what you feel may be a locker rear end where the spider gears are welded, but it also might be the front spring bushings being shot allowing the rear end to move laterally. Your plan is reasonable as all will need to be done at some point anyway. If it is a Traclock rear end the clutch pack may need to be rebuilt. If you can pull a chunk, the next steps aren't bad at all.

  6. I finally got around to installing the new redesigned sway bar. It fits like it should now. The area where the bar mounts is wider and the mounts aren’t jammed in the bends of the bar. I guess the only thing that could be done better would be to shorten the spacers for the end links some, about an inch or so. But other than that I’m happy with it. Here’s a couple pics

  7. July 2020 marked 10 years for 7173Mustangs.com! That is a pretty nice landmark for any internet site considering all of the competition out there anymore! Facebook is probably the number one forum killer on the web today…it’s fast, easy and just about everyone is already using it. But Facebook has several flaws that should keep it from ever killing a forum…for one, Facebook’s search feature is terrible! You can barely find a post you made 2 days ago on any busy FB group! Another flaw is that the post/thread architecture is hard to follow and posts get lost easily! Thirdly, there are just

  9. I agree completely about the quality of bulbs on both eBay and Amazon. On some I tried, the color temperatures were so high that the bulbs didn't have enough red and amber light spectrums in them to effectively light taillights, marker lights and general purpose lighting. When looking at the lit bulbs they were very bright but wouldn't illuminate very well. Pay more for quality LEDs from a quality supplier and you'll be happy with the results. Plasma LEDs are another choice, are highly rated, and pricey: https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/14755/10043/plasma-led-1157-bulb-red-2-pack-new

  10. My advice, from experience, we have a site supporter right here, Bill at Hi-Po Parts.com. He is without doubt the go-to guy for all LED and SMD bulbs. However, I'm not sure about sequential systems. When I did mine a couple of years back, Bill was extremely helpful, offered good advice and better yet, excellent quality bulbs. The junk that you can buy on e-bay may be cheaper and seem like a good deal, but believe me, pay a little extra and get far better bulbs PLUS direct customer service. You WON"T get that on e-pay! Bill is located in Gaylord Michigan. https://www.hipoparts.com/

  12. Maybe you could assemble it all electronically and post it in a tutorial, so it is all accessible in one place. Good job.

  13. Going to the bodyshop today. I put together a 39 page binder with 30 pictures of paint and decal details with 9 tabbed title pages with descriptions. I added some descriptions and details on the pictures as well. I could not have put this binder together without this website and the forum members who have done this before and have offered their pictures and advice. I wish I could remember everyone by name who has helped thus far, I can't. So: THANKS TO EVERYBODY HERE AND 7173MUSTANGS.COM!!!
