  1. Midlife leaving clinic. Sorry - couldn't help myself.

  2. Got my second shot today. Immediate reaction: I needed a drink, waiting the dang 15 minutes before they let me go. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, the shot kicked in and I changed into my werewolf other half, but the nurses didn't see it. We'll see tomorrow what happens. The worst would be that I turn into a Camaro fan and dump the Ford stuff.

  4. More progress!! A paint job IS imminent! Appropriate blackout on the bottom of the hood. Not going for a councours restoration. Just some details here and there added for some reason (don't know why exactly, just wanted it done).

  5. Forced to have one outside while the other enjoys a massage in my little garage, I've used for past 5 or 6 years 3 brands (2 locals and 1 us), all supposed to be made for outside. I can tell you one thing, none did the job as one would expect: keep the car dry. Most had that @breathing@ material you see now days on most of the models, supposed to stop water from penetrating while allow condense underneath to get out. In practice that material works fine for a short rain fall when new, after more than one hour in rain (something very common here) they all start to suck the water and car can't e

  6. The sun finally came out ... did someone pay the bill? I didn't like my first dreary video -- squeaking shocks now replaced No corrosion Mach 1 born Jan 1971 -- 1F05H ... converted to M style package with heads have been changed to 4V with a 6291-1 4x barrel Holley

  7. It's been my observation that most of the time when a wheel departs a vehicle it's due to improperly tightened or incorrect lug nuts.

  8. I have gone through 3 sets with my car, The first set went in beautifully, BUT, I got lucky and fitted it well without knowing what I was doing. Then, my seat pedestals were the wrong ones and I had to remove my interior again so I decided to change to the pony insert ones and used the same method as the first time I installed it and it got WAY off center before I realized it and by then it was too late, I had cut too much off the passenger side. Then I read an article on the proper way to install carpet, starting off the shifter for center and everything fit perfectly. Then I installed a set

  9. I agree with Stanglover, just that one small spring is not enough. I don't believe that '71s had the anti-diesel solenoid, but some have the anti stall dashpot, which that single 50 year old spring won't be able to close. Which brings up another possibility, the cable may be frayed or dirty and hanging up inside the housing.

  10. Kc, didn't we talk about this before? You have pretty much the same set-up as mine, except I have a 1" spacer that I custom made with a taper bore on all 4 bores because I found that the plates could interfere with the spacer and not close properly. First, I would double spring the return. I think I have a pic, if not I'll take one if needed. If that doesn't sort out the throttle return, perhaps there is a bent throttle shaft or other area it is catching. Look for the obvious first. As for knock and splutter on shutdown, that suggest timing is off or I think it could be a cam issue. That is no

  11. Thanks for all the grave outlooks. Specially the one about the "hobbyists", when I just completed the attached. Not sure many hobbyists can do this all by themselves. Even paint. But I have owned Mach 1's before as well. Hope to do just as good a job as this on my trouble titled Mustang. I'll take the fender off and let you know what I find. Thanks,

  12. I am a retired automotive product, process and tooling engineer. The metals used in the newer vehicles is very different from the old. Ford used a lot of what is called Bake Hard steel. After the parts are formed and the car goes through paint and the bake oven the steel picks up almost a spring steel property. This was to help prevent door dings. The japanese cars do not use it and you see way more door dings in them. Also pretty much all exterior metal is low spangle zinc coated so not good to weld. One issue with repo parts is that they use very low carbon steel so if you lean on the car

  13. Looks good but man you are gonna have a ton of stuff to tape off when you go to paint the outside. Good luck and keep up the good work. Love the videos.

  15. After that you mentioned it, vaguely recalling this claim. As Koni is/was a Dutch company (their headquarters are here), I went looking... after 1/2 hour going from blablawerethebestblabla screens to blablareallytoughblabla screens I've stopped. It's just another non transparent corporation doing its best to not be accessible to the average joe. Same for their distributors here. Took me less efforts to have them as they are now ;) They will receive a paint job when I'll spray other parts and that's when they will be better than new, because the hardware might be tough inside, the paint th

  16. I got my first shot about 4 weeks ago. No problems with the first 20 minutes or so, but after that? I grew a second head with horns protruding, a third eye appeared in my forehead, my hands were shakey because each now had 6 fingers. Once I consumed a few adult beverages, things calmed down and I was back to normal. I got back for the second shot on Saturday. I'll be prepared for the side effects this time...
