Will send out a video of them working. Onto 7173mustangs on facebook s as never been able to plug one into 7173mustangs.com video via you tube as with Luxtang was successful at. for one. In a while.  :thankyouyellow: Thanks for you inquiry.  This thanks on a pole, not a pole dancer, just said thank you, so..In the meantime, have a drink on me. Though been outlawed since the 80's...at least I am not offering you those cannabis pills, eh?..LOL

Enjoy buddy. Would be cool if we could all get together sometime and have a shot or two. I say at the very least, Once this build is done in the next while we all get on Skype and help me celebrate with a toast. As for the tail lights Ray, I was supposed to have made a thermal forming box by now and got these things made up but I'm a couple of weeks from having the Cobra off my plate, final touches for spring, then I'm on it.

A bud I met back in college days, just before he fought in Vegas, the Mancini vs Du Ku Kim back autumn 82, since Ray Mancini put this out, his private stock.  Like to get a bottle for my collection.  He is just west of me over in Youngstown or abouts, West of the PA/OH border.  Got this off his line. Maybe get even an extra bottle, one for me to do the shots and one for the collectors shelf.

  2. This is a future project but i am making lists, gathering info and parts when they come available.

What is needed to do the conversion from manual to power windows?  SAME question for pwr door locks

Different door panels?  If not will the switch cover the crank hole?  I have to install new door panels because PO removed and threw them away.  I will need to use the crank for a while.

Different wirring harness or is current one provisioned for power?

SAME question for pwr door locks

Rear quarter windows are fixed.  Is there a kit or parts list to convert those to power to?

Has anyone adapted a multiple control switch on drivers panel for controlling all 4 windows seperately?

Any videos or how to sites???...Thought you had to have a 73 as 73's w/wider body, err, wider doors in their depth? As for replacing for their doors, then fenders, bumpers......donot know if that is possible but getting help from our members widening their bodies....?

Inner door panels, inner door cup at the handle on driver side, readjust convertible frame for the vert boot, repair lower driver seat upholstery, replace mangled up lower trim below door on each side, readjust the front grille. Did my attachment come in....LOL.......Still here, but she is back in the shop for a 3" x pipe kit, Flowmaster Scavenger to replace the 2 1/4"(this here) from the Hooker Headers to the existing Flowmaster 40s as well a replacement brake booster apparently all this time one I had crack internally.  Also, to open up the rev limiter.

  4. I have a 71 Convertible I am rebuilding. Maybe someone on this sight can explain something to me. There were 34K Mach 1 built in 1971 and only 6K convertibles. So  how is it that the Mach 1 sells for more??? Always thought Convertibles sell for more than Fastbacks and the less made the greater the value. This makes no sense to me? Can anyone help?????

    943125_250707488403645_1825331001_n_2.jpg

@ convertible selling for more-'they do' but you take a 71 mustang w/429 or 71 stang Boss 351 compared to a 71 vert w/stock 302 non Boss, and at the top value as a #1(not on the road w/low miles and only trailered from car show to...events) will go as high blue book at @ 78,000 then the Boss 351 knock off @ 20,000, the 302 for the convertibles only a few thousand more than the hard tops and this year the highest of the 71-3's be under 25,000.

How rare a car is doens't determine value.  There are only a handful of Pinto's left but they don't sell for much..

People identify the 71 to 73 model as 'The mach 1'.    Many people prefer the looks of the Mach 1 sports roof over the convertible as well. It's rather iconic and has a certain 'muscle car' look to it.   And in some places a convertible just isn't practical.    So supply and demand is at work.  While the supply of the Mach 1's may be higher so is the demand and therefore a higher price can be asked.

I had a Mach 1 but it was wrecked.  I live in Arizona so a convertible is a great car to own here.   I love my 73 and have owned it for over 30 years but there are still times I kinda wish I had the Mach 1.

    :yeahthat: :yeahthat: Hi Group,

I am NOT new to forums, I am on many. I am currently saving up to get a 71 Mach 1. I have always loved these ugly ducklings since they first came out in the 70's. Now that I am old as dirt, I can finally add one to my stable.

I am looking for some information about these cars, as I have ZERO specific knowledge about these vintage Mustangs. I do, However, Know ALOT about OBD1 Fords. I have a 94 Bronco I have rebuilt from ground up and am just about finished with it. So I have a few Questions for those of you who have one of these cars.

1.) What are the major weakness's of this model?

2.) What idiot lights does this car have?

3.) What are the parts availability like in general? Is there anything needed that no one makes.

4.) What does a paint job typically cost if the body is rust free and has a half way decent paint job on it already.

5.) What are the most worthwhile upgrades? Rack & Pinion? Coil Over? 4 Link rear?

6.) Was Power Brakes an Option? Or did they all come with Manual Brakes?

7.) What is a Sport Roof car? Is that without the louvers and wing?

So I have spotted a car for sale locally for a fairly reasonable price. Its fully funcitonal, paint is in OK condition. It has a couple of minor trouble spots where the roof was repaired with Lead probably 15-20 years ago and its starting to oxidize under the paint. The engine is a 351C. It originally had a 302, but was swapped at some point. Engine is very clean, no signs of any leaks. It has long tube headers already and glass packs. They look pretty old, but are in decent condition. It drives pretty good, but has manual steering and manual drum brakes, and NO A/C. I am pretty familiar with the brake upgrade, A/C conversion, and Power Steering upgrade, so those arent a problem. It has a C6 transmission. The underside looks pretty nasty, but it is a driver not a show car.

Looking at the price of upgrading brakes, A/C, and Power Steering, I am looking at about $3500. I just dont know if this car is worth it. So I am still looking. Maybe I will find one with at least A/C.

So my plan is, to just make sure everything works as it is, fix what crops up after driving it a while. Eventually, I would like to blast it or have it dipped, and do a full paint job on it, Rack and Pinion Upgrade, Coil Overs, 4 link Fab9 rear, Coyote Swap, with 6R80 trans. But before I get to that point, I want to live with it like it is for a few years and work on the suspension bit by bit.

For the coyote swap, do they make conversion motor mounts that bolt to the stock location? Or do you have to get a new complete front cross member/suspension unit like the Rod and Custom Coil over/rack and pinion kit.

    rck107mp-v_1.2268.jpg

If you have to go this route, thats fine, I just dont want to do any other upgrades that I will have to do again later on. Ps-I have just about an entire AC that was pulled out of 71-3 mustangs from Ohio Mustang and cost me @# $1200.  some parts found when they shipped it, was not cleaned up and needed that TLC.  Just decided to put in an after market....works, sort of after a few readjustment trips to whom installed it for me....things like having to have the entire....recrimped.  In the meantime if you would like to see some of what I have and not a rush, say over into the springtime, I could shoot some pictures of components out of my garage, as is as I received them, we can deal in what you want to pay, what I got into it....in between somewhere if you want to go original...piece mealing it until you get all the parts?

    1972 Mustang Convertible

    460 Cobra Jet

    C6 three speed

    9” rear with staggered shocks

SSBC Disc Brakes all the was around.

I wish I could find my box of pictures of how it all started but here is the short story:

I bought ‘ol girl from a guy down in Georgia who had stalled out on fixing her up. He got her from a guy in California. So, it is a rust free California car that was in primer when it was delivered to me on 9/01/2001. I was literally going through her when my wife called down to me and said a plane jus flew into the World Trade Center!

She started life with a 3512V and an FMX, but that was soon pulled and I started the long process of collecting the parts for a 429CJ 4 Speed build. In the 12 years that she sat in my garage, I was able to collect 90% of the parts to put her back together but scrapped the plan when I couldn’t find the necessary little pieces for the 4 speed ZBar setup……..So I decided to just throw a beefed up C6 behind the 460CJ that I found……..

Well as many do, the project stalled more than a few times and the shell turned into a place to store crap and hide Christmas presents. I took a transfer for work in 2014 and had to plan a move from VA to TX in about 30 days and the thought briefly crossed my mind to get rid of her but I am glad I didn’t. I had to get rid of a lot of “other” toys / projects but decided to find a way to keep her.

So I left her, and all the related parts, with a friend in VA who builds race cars with the agreement that he would put her back together enough for me to ship her down at a later date. Fast-forward three years and I have finally gotten her down here and have started to see things come together.

The car was painted in VA and they did not do a half bad job on it. It needs some work, but it looks pretty good. I plan on having the lower trim blacked out and the Mach I stripes added.

The motor that he was supposed to rebuild. was not, and when we fired it up, something let loose in the bottom end, so we shut it down. We pulled the motor and are waiting for a reputable local engine builder to get back in shape. I’m hoping it was just something little like a spun baring, but won’t be able to tell until we get her opened up. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of most of my shop equipment during the move so she is sitting at Hot Rod Heaven in Corpus Christi instead of my garage.  They are a great group of guys and I have no doubt she is in good hands.

Since she has been down here, we got the top installed and put some new rims and tires on her. 15X8 American Racing Torq Thrust II’s all the way around with 245X60 R15 BFG’s up front and 275X60 R15 BFG’s out back.

That is where we are now, just waiting to get the engine in it to see what else needs to be done to her before we can get her on the road.

  11. How she looks now.  "You got to install Ram Air as well Hurst 4 Speed and while you are at it a Gear Vendors Overdrive that hooks up to your shifter knob and why not a roll control on it too'. Great looking.  You know the 69/70 Shelby Gt 350/500 convertible roll bar fits with the 7173 mustangs, along with some chrome trim, would be an awesome look.

seen it on one up around New Jersey a while back.

The SSBC sounds great and as I have that w/10.5 inch...all around power brakes but with an after market vacuum booster just barely brings it to a stop when baring down on it with normal driving' Since this new format on 7173mustangs.com, can not find how to get on ez gallery or find my own photo file like it use to be and still can not get  response out of admin on how to do this, via a msg to my gmail address.. Maybe you can pass on the msg to them to get ahold of me on mikecohn17@gmail.com as my old email address been out for a decade.

  12. Has anyone ever attempted to shove in the engine and transmission as one unit?

    I'm concerned about clearance! Thanks!:chin:

May have via my Cleveland specialist however 2 weeks after got the Cleveland overhauled modified from q to r code, per se nad reattaching the toploader, he died, a simple growth operation in his groin, surgeon nicked his femoral artery and bled out 48 hours. Therefore never got the motor blueprinted.http://

  13. My XR7 originally came with a 351, which was long gone by the time I pulled the car from a field. Originally was a light red color. Repainted with a dark red at some point, came with white upholstery and top and black carpet.

AC, power windows and top, 9" 3.00 gears, power disc in the front with drums in the back.

Overhauled interior. Just what the doc ordered......to start placing at the car shows.....
  14. to Craigslist ads like this:

    CAMARO,PONTIAC GTO,PLYMOUTH,AMC,CHEVELLE,MONTE CARLO,CUDA ,MUSTANG and Trans Am.

HAVE CASH AND FLATBED AND CAN CLOSE DEAL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

CONTACT ME WITH PICTURE AND CONTACT INFORMATION.

:s DUHHHH Craigslist is FULL of them, try looking THERE!!! or the other guys that list a car, then put up another listing WTB the car of the same description as they are selling. Do they REALLY think we dont get it what they are up to? :-/

Only a joke though fact....if this attached pic comes in....the recent condition of our AACA chance car for our local Latrobe club after it had been broken into and taken for a joy ride. Since though, got another to replace it.

  15. I'm here but the vert is in the interior shop over on Rte 66 for a major tweaking. Inner door panels, inner door cup at the handle on driver side, readjust convertible frame for the vert boot, repair lower driver seat upholstery, replace mangled up lower trim below door on each side, readjust the front grille. Did my attachment come in....LOL
