  1. Does this look like the correct hood latch support for my 1972 Mustang with 302? The one I have from my car is slightly different than the one shown and may have been "rigged" to fit my car after a wreck. It is unusable.
  2. Just got the Stang started after 7 years, but my radiator is leaking. It is leaking along the seam between the radiator cap, past the transmission coolant lines toward the lower radiator hose. Someone JB welded it. Can a radiator shop fix this or do you suggest a new one?
  3. I took my seats off and one of the seat tabs broke off, leaving a part of the bracket attached to the floor bolt. I cannot get the seat bolt out, it is rusted solid to the floor. How do I get it out, drill and tap???
  4. On my 1972, just curious. What is the purpose of the longer power steering hoses on my 1972 302-2V? I have the year where the power steering hoses go up and over the top of the shock tower braces. Many of the other years and engines do not do this.
  5. Hello! My next step for my 1972 is the exhaust system. I Installed a header from Summit and cutoff the rusted stock dual system with dual mufflers. I need advice on a good dual system that will not break my bank account. Should I go with stainless or just aluminum??? I really don't want the car to be too loud, I like the deep muscle car tone just nothing excessive. I want to be able to listen to my tunes like The Cars, Boston, Beach Boys and Depeche Mode Etc!!! I see systems anywhere from $249 and up. I will get a local muffler shop to install. Would you suggest the muffler shop to install a OEM style system or would you suggest having them fabricate a system in the shop?[/align] I apologize, I am not much of a welder or exhaust guy!
  6. Did the 1972 Ford Mustang have a engine ground strap from the engine to the firewall? Or does it really need one?? I bought the cable kit with the starter cable, positive battery cable and the negative cable that grounds from the battery to the engine. The negative cable has a bracket that looks like it should bolt to the apron.
  7. Does anyone make new hood latch supports for the 72's??? Mine has been welded and looks terrible. I have only found new pre-1970 ones for sale. Do the pre-1970 ones fit a 72???? Do you know where I can find a new one or used in great shape??? I don't care about the rust and paint, just need one that has not been messed with.
  8. 1972 3022V, Convertible. Anybody have good pictures of how to route my power steering hoses from the pump up to the engine brace and down to the steering box? I have the long hoses that run up on top of the engine brace.
  9. How do you replace the ignition switch on the 1972 Convertible with 302 engine? Thank you!
  10. 1972 Mustang, 302 2V converted to 4V. Added hotter cam, higher flow intake, headers, replaced every hose and gasket. Hope to have her drivable by Summer. I said "drivable". It has not been running for 7 years. She still needs a lot of work, but to just drive it down the road will be an amazing accomplishment. It has been in the family for 30 years, I used to beg my sister to borrow her car for dates in the 80's. It was totally restored then. I rescued it from my sister in Dallas. She left it out in the rain with the top down for 3 years, sick!!!! Engine when I got it!
  11. Any opinion on what is the difference between the clear and white colored hoses for the convertible motor?? CJ Pony has a good deal on the clears right now but other companies say that the white hoses are factory replacements. Does it really matter? I just want to get the top working again.
  12. I prefer oiled compressors. A lot quieter and I don't believe in running machines without oil. Be sure to match the CFM of the compressor to the demand from your tools. Paint guns won't be the problem. Check the consumption in CFM on the DA, Die Grinder, and cutoff wheel you plan to buy. Get the biggest tank you can fit in your workshop and you will be happy. I have a Coleman air tool set and some CP(Chicago Pnuematic) stuff. No complaints. My compressor is a Coleman oiled compressor with a 27 gal tank and 7.1 CFM at 40 psi/ 5.4CFM at 90 psi rating. It won't keep up with my die grinder. It will run with the Blast cabinet, but it runs constantly. Hope that helps! I prefer oiled compressors. Missouri just took Arkansas in Basketball. :D Thanks on the advice, but not on the comment about Razorback basketball, lol!!!!!! Thank you! Is it a Central Pneumatic?
  13. I am getting close to sanding and spraying undercoat and things. I have a POS 5 gallon Compressor now that will barely power my spray gun. I need to buy a shop compressor along with accessories. I have friends that own a Sears Hometown store so I was looking at Sears compressors in the $300-$400 range for a 26-30 gallon tank. Any recommendations on compressors and air tools, like sanders and body tools? Do you like oil free or compressors with oil?? I am not stuck on Sears, I just like giving my friends the business.
  14. My Father In Law forgot what goes to the vacuum canister and charcoal canisters. Photo's or advice would be great. 1972 Convertible with 302.
  15. My Father in law took off my power steering hoses last Summer, I wanted to take photo's, but he insisted that he would remember how they went back together. He said "I was a Ford mechanic for 10 years and I will never forget"! Well, he forgot! Does anybody have pictures of the routing? I know that they went up on top of the brace and were anchored by a bracket.
  16. I agree, really looks good on your car. I have a 72 Convert, with colors similiar to yours, at least they used to be before my sister left the car out in the rain for 5 years with the top down! She was kind enough to give the car to me to restore.
  17. Doing a front brake job on my Mustang that has not been driven in 8 years. My rotors are in good shape but terribly rusted, any suggestions on getting them back in shape???
  18. I think they were left natural, but I am unsure. I use Cast Blast on mine. Also known as cast coat or other names that duplicate a raw casting color. Thank you!
  19. What was the original color of the 1972 drums and calipers? What paint do you recommend???
  20. Ooops! Just broke off some of the Brake caliper bolts on my 1972. Where do I find these???
  21. What is the correct original color of the brake drum and calipers on my 1972 Mustang? What paint product is recommended? Many people like the G2 two stage system....
