Rear Shocks from QA1 or Viking
1973machi replied to Robsweden's topic in Suspension, Handling, Brakes, Wheels and Tires
I just installed a pair of the Viking on the rear of my Mach I this weekend. Too much rain to take the car out and see how much different they are compared to the KYB that were on it. -

Are there any scratches in the door glass? Is it tinted? -
Here is mine.

Has anyone smoothed out their firewall or cleaned up the cowl pinch weld? I would really like to do something with that area, just not sure what. I might possibly smooth out the aprons too.

I attended a big indoor show this past February and beat a $200,000 build 69 Mach I for best Ford with my 73 Mach I. I have beaten several Camaros and so on for Best of Show and Best Engine awards. These years of Mustangs are actually starting to really gain in popularity. Well done. Yes, I think you might be right, our year Mustangs do seem to be gaining in popularity. I for one, hope it continues and a reason for the suggestion of a Virtual Car Show being as there might not be too many actual car shows to go to for quite some time. Unfortunately to this point, not too many have e

Does anyone make a filler panel
1973machi replied to jscott's topic in Interior, Seats, Door Panels, Trunk, Glass, etc
Here is the one I made for my car. -
Was this a pewter 71 fastback that you bought?

I think I might be selling a 73 Mustang convertible. It will be a project or maybe a parts car. The floor pans, trunk floor and rear frame rails are really bad. The radiator support also needs to be replaced. I have new full length floor pans, trunk floor and frame rails that go with the car. The quarters and doors aren't too bad. It has used but good fenders on it. It has a running 302 automatic in it. No A/C but does have power disc brakes. The top is shot but it is all there. Even the rear glass window. It has a complete ginger interior that would need new seat covers and deluxe

Does it matter which wire I use from the factory plug? -
Rear disc brake conversion issues

Did you hook up the brake light to the new prop. valve? The factory one is two wire and the chevy valve CJ uses is a single wire. -

Is that your daily driver/commute car? mike Not the way this winter has gone, but it does get on the road quite a bit during the warm months. It is fun to drive. -

Custom trunks, upholstery...
1973machi replied to Fabrice's topic in Interior, Seats, Door Panels, Trunk, Glass, etc
It is suede material like the trunk and TMI seat covers. The Mustang tri bar is embroidered in. I did this on my door panels too. -

No, the lock handles are stock. There are plasma cut slots in the 1/8" aluminum for them. Yes, I keep it closed all the time. Here is a picture of the inside of the door. -
Custom trunks, upholstery...
1973machi replied to Fabrice's topic in Interior, Seats, Door Panels, Trunk, Glass, etc
The floor is just the factory floor with a sound mat on top of it under the carpet. The carpet is just some universal cut to fit. The piece on the door is 1/8" aluminum that was cut out on a friend's plasma table. I glued a piece of polished stainless steel behind it to have the mustang cutout a mirror. -

The blue stitching and the suede material blends it into the TMI sport R seat covers and console I have in the interior. -

This is my all aluminum one I built years ago. I just use my hood pins so no need for the latch to poke through. -
Anyone Paint Their Rear Bumper
1973machi replied to 1973machi's topic in Interior, Seats, Door Panels, Trunk, Glass, etc
I had an old bumper laying around, so I went ahead and painted it. Here is what it looks like on the car. I also have a billet honeycomb panel that I accented with blue. -
Manual Valve Body with Stock Shifter
1973machi replied to cobra3073's topic in Engine, Transmission, Drive Line, Etc
I have been using an aftermarket ratchet shifter on my car with a full manual reverse pattern valve body for 15 years. I don't know why you would want to try without a ratchet shifter. You will slip it into the next gear to easily with the stock shifter. Which shifter are you using? ...and Yes, I realize one can slip the transmission easily into the next gear with the stock shifter which is why I am trying to do my due diligence. I have come to understand from one of the transmission "gurus"/racers on another site that the stock shifter works great with the reverse pattern v -
Manual Valve Body with Stock Shifter
1973machi replied to cobra3073's topic in Engine, Transmission, Drive Line, Etc
Yes, those OE parts were definitely difficult to source but I actually have sources now for the individual parts. Bobby (Competition Carburetors in NV) who did the modifications on my 1000HP carburetor advised against using a ratchet shifter with the manual valve body. Did you have any major issues using the ratchet shifter when you had the manual valve body? As an aside, I was looking at changing the manual valve body out but unfortunately I purchased the transmission (new) from a forum member on the 460 Ford forum years ago who had gotten it from Broader and Broader is unable to g
