  1. I replaced my 3.25 open with a 3.50 trac loc. I felt the 351 4v with c6 and stock converter was a dog off the line. 3.50s did liven it up a bit. Definitely replace u joints while the drive shaft is out. New axle bearings, too.
  2. Turtle, Does your trunk hit the bottom louver like mine does? I’ve seen some with a flat bottom louver to cure that issue. That’s the one to get.
  3. Nothing like fresh paint. Mines pushing 30 years old now. So jealous. Keep up the good work. Nice seeing another grabber green getting its correct color reapplied.
  4. I had a similar issue a couple years ago. While driving the temp gauge went to hot. When I pulled over to check the gauge went to normal. Drove again and it went hot. Again, normal while at idle. Long story short, I had forgotten to reattach the chassis ground to the fender apron below the voltage regulator. At rest it was touching the apron and grounded and the gauge was good. While driving it would swing away and lose ground and the gauge went hot.
  5. First thing I noticed was the spoiler as well. Mounted way to high on the deck lid. Must be an early VIN with the woodgrain console trim plate?
  6. I'm considering replacing all my dash trim since the chrome edges are peeling or painted silver. Has anyone bought any of the reproduction pieces? I'm looking at both left and right dash pieces, the center gauge trim and the console trim from Ohio Mustang. Just curious about the fit and finish.
  7. Well it has come time for our cars to start celebrating their 50th Birthdays. Mine rolled off the Metuchen NJ assembly line on October 8, 1970.

  10. The bottom seat frame has cracked. You will need to remove the upholstery and weld the frame.

  12. I’ve posted this before. Commercial for the local Ford dealership. Second one was for movie theaters.
  13. Yeah, that's what I thought. That's why I had the "professionals" do it. Unfortunately they got it back to me so late in the season I had to put it away for the winter. They said they would take care of me in the spring. We'll see how that goes.
  14. So Don, if the thing is all set up correctly on the bench and the pattern on the gears is good, could a cracked pinion support cause the angle to change under load causing noise? Kligon, Don't you need a press for some parts of the rebuild?
  15. The first set of gears whined starting at about 40 mph. Apply light throttle and you’d start to hear it. It was a constant drone on the interstate but become quieter as you coasted. With the new gears, it had on consistent hum fron dead stop and up and then continuing as you slow down. All bearings and clutches replaced. Axle bearings also replaced. I didn’t see the pattern on the second set of gears since I made them pull and replace after the first time. The first rebuild I installed. It had a good contact pattern. At this point it would not be cost effective to ship it to anyone to go through it again. It would be cheaper to buy a new aftermarket tracloc.
  16. I bought a used tracloc diff off eBay a couple years ago. Seller claimed it was rebuilt. I installed it and it had a whine above 40mph. This year I decided to pull it and have it checked by a local performance shop. I had them rebuild it again with new gears , bearing , everything.I put back in and it whined even louder. The shop said they worked with their parts supplier and said the gears were incorrectly manufactured. They pulled it again and installed a different brand of gears. All the rebuild specs are dead nuts. Now it makes a different whine. Can the housing be worn out so when installed in the car things just don’t mesh right? I’m at a loss and the shop is too. Have any of you rebuilt a diff and just can’t get it quiet?
  17. Definitely a hair dark for grabber green. But I really like that color. I wouldn’t paint it. Don, I think that’s a pic of my car 20 years ago.
  18. Well the verdict is in. The rag joint did seem to fix most of the violent darting across lanes. There is still more wandering than I’d like. The wife works at the Ford dealership so it looks like she’ll bring it in for the alignment guy to give it a once over.
  19. Yeah, I figured it out after awhile. 6 point sockets don’t fit so good. My 12 point 7/16 was missing but a got a new one. The new rag joint is in. That job sucked. Going for a test drive after a shower.
  20. I’ve got the new rag joint and I am working on putting it in. What size bolt holds the joint to the steering box? It looks like a 12 point star bolt. I need to go buy the right socket
