  1. I wonder if it would be possible to fit that GT Falcon grille to our Mustangs...?;) I like the Charger like "pillar" in the center of it.
  2. Hi, I always do this when a question like this comes up, so here I go again. Maybe you wanna check my thread on the subject: http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-my-experiences-with-bigger-wheels All the measurments from my car with the 18 inch rims. I also bumped the thread, so it will show up in the lists again. If there are some more questions feel free to ask.
  3. Thanx for all the intresting feedback, especially from Q about how it can be done. I know my car has little "canions" under the paint that you can only spot under neon lights, but they are there. I was told it was the undercoats that have not had enough time to cure and thus settled and shrank underneath the paint. One thing might be that here in Europe they spray thinner coats than in the US with less buffing in the end, so the prep work needs to be more accurate. Anyway. Back to the shows: I think we can dump the Pimp My Ride crap immediately. That was just a matter of putting in subwoofers and Playstations (or x-boxes or whatever) and flatscreens in the most unapropriate places and spraying a flashy paint job onto a completely rotten car. I know that it is all about product placement and sponsoring. Plus remember it´s TV, so we must not assume that what we see is waht went down, which is why I wrote in the original post "if the show was not fake" Chip Foose on the other hand is somebody who knows what he is doing, at least when it comes to design issues. I love how he has the talent to spot what it is that makes a certain model look the way it does and how to change everything that distracts from those lines. And yes, I love most of the cars he´s done (except for that golden ´Cuda which was not an "Overhauling" Car. Wasn´t it called the Terracuda?), especially the two tone paint jobs. Although I don´t like the 20+ inch rims they usually put on the cars, but that can be changed easily. Also the show looks like they are are doing more than just your basic "bling bling" stuff. It simply felt weird to me that Foose would agree to have poorly made cars out on the streets carrying his (respected and renowned) name. He got paid for it, sure, but still. But when Q sais it can be done, I will not argue that point!
  4. Hi and ::welcome:: Come and get it, it´s here for everyone! :D
  5. Hi, This is a discussion I had with some pals a while ago. Until recently a European TV station aired "Overhaulin". I know the show is already yesterdays news in the US (and meanwhile here too), but anyway. Suppose the show is not fake and they really redo a car within a week. If you have a team of let´s say 30 people work on the car continously in 3 shifts over 24 hours, you can get a lot of hours worked on it. But here´s my thought. How can you weld, primer and paint a car within let´s say 48 hours without letting it cure in between? If the show was not fake and they really did this, these cars must look awful by now, as the finish will have settled and caused creases. Or am I completely mistaken?
  6. Guys, duck and sit tight. I hope you´ll get out of this unharmed! I keep my fingers crossed!!!!!
  7. I´ll quote myself, as I have written this in another thread just a few hours ago, but it makes sense to post it here too: _______________________________________ RE: Gettin' close to a couple of milestones Lemme chime in here! I love this forum. I am no computer or internet guy, I am a member on only 3 other forums. The Fender Telecaster Forum (tdpri), the German Dr-Mustang forum and the German Mopar Forum (as I was planning to buy a Mopar one of these days but I never check into that one). I don´t have a Facebook account or a MySpace site or whatever and I am not registered to Youtube. So you might say this is the only place I try to look up every day. On the other Mustang forum you can´t post a pic or a remark without tons of trolls bashing you for it. It´s like they don´t want you to have nice car and they´re only on the forum to show off theirs! I got bashed for putting on the 18 Inch rims, for the 69 hood scoop, for the painted grille and for owning a 71-73 in general! :-) Nobody ever tells you they like it. I did not post my thread about the bigger wheels on the Mustang (with all the measurements) on the German one. It would have ended in all kinds of people telling you that it doesn´t look right or that those measurements can´t be accurate because of some stupid reason, only because they did not post it themselves. I´m sick of that, so here I am and I´m here to stay!:P You guys rock! ____________________
  8. Thanx to everyone for the kind words!

When I found the ad in the classified I was hoping that I wasn´t one of "those Mach 1s". :D Here in Europe people usually refer to our Mustangs as "Mach 1"s in general. Maybe because they were not that common and if one showed up it usually read "Mach1", I dunno. Where ever I show up with mine people will tell me: "Oh that´s a ..what did they call it... Mach1, right?" I did not know much about Mustang history in detail at that time, so I did not know what to expect. I bought it nonetheless and over the years it has grown on me. Especially as it is a convertible. They simply look badass! Though I still think that the 69 Sportsroof is the hottest Mustang ever built, I would not trade my 72 for any other car. (Except maybe for a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner. I gotta have one of those one day!) Sorry for the long post but it had to be said!;)
  10. That looks real good! Too bad I pumped mine full of silicone as water leaked into the interior from everywhere underneath the trim. Now I can´t get the trim off without breaking anything. No more water leaks though! :-)
  11. For what it's worth: I read on a European Mustang Forum that someone almost got himself killed when the strut rod broke due to fatigue making the car go out of control while driving quite fast on a country road. He had poly bushings and many people chimed in that it was a natural thing to happen and that the strut rods need that little flex and twist provided by the rubber bushings to dampen the blows. Of course this is all hearsay, but I begin to see a pattern here...... As long as you don't wanna seriously race you Mustang, I'd say use rubber bushings just so you're on the safe side, even if the poly bashing might not turn out to be true. (I edited that last sentence as originally I had written: "Use rubber on the rod to be on the safe side" but I thought I'd spare me the kinky replies!) rofl
  12. My choice would be the dark red (the one next to the door, just to make sure, as you said you screwed up the sides). It's not your standard hue everybody associates with "red". Are you set on going red? I could imagine something like midnight blue with a violet hue to go with the interior. Dunno how to describe it correctly but you may get the drift.
  13. Hi Adam and ::welcome:: Is that just me or are those shock tower braces bent? (Especially on the passenger side?) As for the color: I'd say that if the car is something very special like a rare option car or a full options original Mach 1 or a Boss, then restore it to factory specs. If it's just a regular Mustang than go ahead and do whatever you want. It's your car, make it look the way you want it to. I did the same with mine. Tore everything off I did not like and painted it the color I wanted.
  14. Hi and ::welcome:: This is a fine place, especially for yellow Mustangs!
  15. Hi David and::welcome:: So you found the place where we're hiding! ;)
  16. Do you mind leaving some for the rest of us? :D
  17. Glad to hear that you had no damage caused by the storm. And it's nice to have you back. We had to post that much to fill the gap you left when you went AWOL! :D
  18. Hi Andrew and ::welcome:: Your story sounds familiar. Somebody on this board posted a funny answer on one of my posts that said something like "It would be too easy to start with a clean car, wouldn't it?" I guess that pretty much sums it up. :-)
  19. Hello and ::welcome:: from Europe
  20. Yup, Happy Easter to you too and everyone on this forum!
  21. Sweeet! Cool color! A real head turner.
  22. I'd take it on the spot, but I live in Europe. Shipping costs would kill me. C'mon guys, there must be somebody who wants this!
  23. Well I've spent hours staring at that clip on my car wondering what on earth it's function could be! How does it work?? It scrapes the paint off and thus creates a spot that rusts easily! :D I found some old abandoned warehouses where the doors are open, so I decided to go back with a camera and snap some pics inside:
