  1. It looks amazing! Beautiful car! My brother bought the one I have in 1986.
  2. Sexy! The girls aren't bad lookin either :) It might be plain but I think it looks perfect.
  3. The center cap holes is what I was wondering, if they could be added. I was going to ask that question and saw where you said they could be. I don't have a cap to take but for 100 if they look nice I'll probably take them anyway. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  4. I ran across them just browsing the app. He has $100 on them and for that price I'm interested. I like the look of those wheels. The picture he posted is not great but maybe the holes are there. I do see the black stripe. Unless it's painted like you mentioned doing to yours. I'm looking at them tomorrow after work Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  5. Weird I was coming here to ask a similar question and this is the top thread. Congrats on the car btw, I love the 70. I think you answered my question but just to clarify. On my local letgo someone is selling the slot wheels but I do not see the screw holes for the center caps. The wheels are listed as 14 x 6 with 4 1/2" bolt pattern. No screw holes mean these are not ford oem correct? Which is fine since it sounds like I could add that but just so I know.
  6. "Ugh! Country rap?!? Hot girl, cool cars but leave the sound off." I actually met some of his people at a gas station and they seem less douchebag in real life. Giving to charity and what not...Of course they may be giving to charity, cherry and mercedes :) LMAO yeah i hear ya! Not trying to promote for the signer, I like all music but I get what you are saying. Not exactly on my playlist but I go from Sinatra to Rhianna to Rob Zombie and everything in between. Most people don't agree with what I like :)
  7. A huge Thank you to all Veterans! Including my father (Air Force) and uncle (Navy) - Korean War. May they RIP. So much thanks and so much respect to them all, past and present!
  8. I may be too drunk to figure it out but i tried posting in youtube section. Cool song and the video has a 71 or 2 in it so thats a plus right :) About 1:26, 1:53 (girl drinking from bottle too) :) 2:43, 3:07...just watch the video, it's not bad
  9. I rarely see them around here but one or two occasionally. Street Rod Nationals in Louisville this year only had two 71-73's. they were nice but still only two that I saw. I am putting mine in it's first show next weekend. Although mine isn't ready imo but my son is really excited about it and has been begging to enter a show. He's only 8 so cant say no to him. BTW I love the stance, wheel and tire combo you have! Would like mine to have that look when I get the cash for it. Looks like your car is going to turn out great!
  10. Sounds good! Thanks guys and yeah i figured that valve wouldn't be working anyways considering the condition. Also great tip on the air pressure test! I have not done one yet but from reading what a pita it is, it would suck to have to do it all over again!
  11. So i must have destroyed my heater core taking out my ac. i know i had a heck of a time getting the evaporator valve out and probably broke something. not probably cause i did since it is pouring coolant. I will eventually replace the core but i don't have time right now and just want to drive the car. I know from reading on here it can be bypassed but have some questions to make sure i do it correctly. I couldn't tell from looking at the hoses but are the pump and intake hoses the same size? If so then it will be ok to just take generic heater hose and run it in between forming a U-shape right? 1973 351C 4v Also I have a valve, or something like a valve in between the two hoses with vacuum lines attached near the pump. Can i just remove that and plug up the vacuum ports? Also on one of the hoses near the firewall there is another valve with some sort of vacuum attached. Would it be ok to remove that as well and just plug that one? Thanks! The first pic is the valve near the water pump and intake manifold. The second pic is the valve near the firewall below the air cleaner. I'm sure you all know that already :)
  12. Yeah the only thing i saw was the space you and the others mentioned when i got it all removed. I did use a stack of washers and at least in my case it was 1/2 inch. My car didn't have the steering cooler so no issues on that. All i need to do now is find or make some caps for the evap lines and i'm good. I didn't touch anything in the car since i figured there is no benefit to it and yeah i may want it back one day. Thanks for all the comments. This really all started because of something else but i do like the look without A/C and since it wasn't working i'm not going to miss it...yet.
  13. Thanks for the quick reply! I think I am good now. On the bracket I was just asking if leaving the old bracket(s) on for now would be ok. I assume it would be fine just not as 'clean' looking. I believe they are 'stacked' at least the one where the idler pulley is attached. The one for the compressor I don't remember. Sorry I am probably making it more complex than it really is but yes your answer makes sense. I'll get back into it later this week or weekend i hope. Good deal on the heater core. I will cap off the a/c lines like you said. The belts I was replacing since mine are old and cracked, may as well do it now before i wish i had. Alternator and power steering is all i need so once i figure out my brackets i'll know how to answer their questions at the store. And yeah same here there are at least a dozen different ones available when i called and looked online.
  14. :) Yes i know it sounds odd but it has never worked anyways since i have owned it. So i wont miss it, windows down works for me. I do have power steering so thanks for that. I can just use the bracket i have for now correct? Now if the heater core is an issue maybe it's not worth removing the A/C. Do i need to replace the heater core with a non A/C one? Everything else sounds pretty simple. I will be keeping everything just so I can put it back later if i want. If not it's nice having all the original equipment with the car anyways. Any idea on the belt questions? I am guessing that different bracket may make a difference on the belts? Thanks for the response and good to know on the bracket!
  15. So i did go with pertronix 1, distributor from cardone, adjustable vacuum advance, msd blaster, msd wires although i will be doing cut to fit later cause they are super long. Anyways I keep running into issues so i haven't got it all done yet. but will let you all know how it comes out. The duraspark idea i like and may try that on my 70 f100 next year. Thanks for all the helpful information! right now life keeps getting in the way and then i ran into issues with the old distributor being stuck which i needed to remove the ac compressor. which prompted a new thread on how to properly delete the AC from the car if anyone has advice there? Thanks http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-removing-air-conditioning?pid=238856#pid238856
  16. I am wanting to remove the ac from my 1973 mach1 351c with factory ram air. It hasn't been working for years and i don't need it on there anyway. I need to remove the compressor to get easier access to the distributor i'm changing which is 'stuck'. I figure may as well just remove all of it and leave it off. I think it looks cleaner personally without it. Do i need to leave the idler pulley on the car or anything else since it did come factory equipped? If i don't need it i'd like to just remove it and anything else i don't need. There is also a pulley at the bottom that looks like it is only for the ac system. Can i remove that as well? Then what would i need to do as far as plugging up holes? Do they make a delete kit i need? Sorry i tried searching but can only find things about adding ac not removing it. Another question is what belts do i need to ask for? The other belts don't seem like they had anything to do with the ac at all but when i look for replacement belts there are options for w/o ac and w/ ac. It's confusing since it seems there is a belt specifically for the ac only. Sorry i did try searching but just didn't find much on this. I would assume others have removed their ac as well. Thanks
  17. Ok thanks and i see what you are saying about the wire, and my radio bit the dust a long time ago so no issues there :) well i would like tunes but would rather spend the money on other things for the car. Well i was pretty sure about the pertronix route but i do like the idea of the duraspark now also. it will be a few days before i purchase the parts so i'll think on it. any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks again everyone!
  18. Thanks everyone for the advice! I may just go ahead and go with a replacement distributor, pertronix 1, stock coil and then replace the plugs and wires. No emissions testing where i am so single will work for me then. I know the wires are old at least and i've always thought or had better luck with the oem type plugs and wires. however if i choose a flamethrower coil would that cause any issues? i read something where the stock coil may not produce enough voltage for the pertronix. i figure if the flamethrower wont or shouldn't cause issues then i may as well get that to be safe. Thanks
  19. Thanks Dave! just to confirm are you also using the flamethrower II coil? I will definitely remember the advise on the Acc position! I did not realize that about the gap so thanks for that as well! did you replace plugs and wires with your setup? i'm not sure which wires i even have since they are braided hose and have been on the car forever. might be best to replace them anyway.
  20. Hello. Sorry this will be a very newbie question i'm sure! I am looking to get the pertronix ignition conversion. Funds are limited but i would like to do it as best as possible. The current distributor is loose so i'm replacing that as well. The car is stock except for a different cam from what i understand. I do not know the details of the cam or if it was ever replaced, just what i heard. I am planning on replacing the distributor and the coil since the coil is old and i have read it's a good idea when moving to pertronix. I am planning on just the cheaper single point pertronix but is there a benefit going to the II or III? I was looking at summit and notice pertronix also made the distributors with the ignitions included. And then Summit has a distributor, the blueprinted HEI's but thats all different correct? Would one of those be the way to go or should i just stick with a factory replacement distributor? i am guessing with the factory ram air i would need dual vac correct? So i guess my question would be if it was your car and considering how often it's driven what would you do? If you had 300 max to spend on it? Thanks The car is driven maybe 1k miles per year during the summer and that's it. 1973 Mach 1, ram air, 351c, 4bbl, automatic
  21. thanks for the welcomes again all! pretty cool not to be the only Hoosier / Hoosier neighbor in here. The kids love Paoli and yes it is a beautiful area. I live technically in Depauw but I consider it living in Palmyra. It's about 20 minutes north of Louisville. The family has seen some rough times but we are getting along ok. Thanks ponypastor. I spent my summers in Detroit and Florida mostly. Detroit was more fun since i wasn't visiting retired relatives! Hi Luxstang! Awesome car and the video is awesome as well! Don65Stang, Love the color of the car! One of my favorite colors besides blue :). Not sure if i keep looking at your sig because of the car or the wife...
  22. Thanks for the welcomes all. Well as the 302 goes I only have experiences with it in the truck but it's dependable is all i can say on that :) If you meant the 5.0 car then it is a blast! Will definitely be going to a pro for my glass problem! Hopefully it doesn't involve replacing the glass. Cool to see some other hoosiers on here! Timachone; It is original Ram Air. The hood locks I think were added later on. As far as the "blackening" goes I am not sure but i never knew the car to have any type of decor on the hood. It would be nice to know what the car originally came with. I have some pics of the car after my brother had it for a few months and it shows nothing. However my brother had it repainted (original color) right after he bought it but there are no pictures of when he first purchased it. I only have my memory of sitting in it when he drove it home from North Carolina the day he purchased it. I barely remember that :). I do remember him saying the owners told him that it was never driven on gravel and he said "well that's about to change because my parents live on a gravel road." That story was told often because he said the owner almost didn't sell it to him because he was going to drive it on a gravel road! He promised to park it and have my dad come get him. Sorry I write novels for responses. Anyways thanks for the welcomes and answers to the newbie questions i will have. If anyone is aware of a club to join in my area please let me know! Thanks. did not realize there were other responses but i am from Palmyra about 20 minutes north of Louisville. Hello Marks73, pretty cool since my car is North Carolina born and raised!
  23. Hello Everyone. This is a great site as I have already had many great responses so far. I passed over the intro page and started asking questions right off so my apologies. Anyways my car is a 1973 Mach 1 Ram Air 351C. It is pretty much stock except for the wheels, cam and some other minor parts. I grew up with my car and have known it since i was about 7yo. My brother bought it in 1984, gave it to me when i was 16, mom forced it back onto my brother 2 hours later. My brother passed away (7yr later) and then my dad gave it back to me before he passed away (6mo ago). Not to be emotional but the car is family, it's my connection. I plan for my son to have it when he is ready! Thanks again everyone and although I am slow at responses I do appreciate them!
  24. I have tried everything, hand, machine...i have a ton of elbow grease but it's not touching it. i'll see if a professional shop will try. if they can clean a test area then i will pay them to do it. thanks everyone.
