  2. Hi all. I have 71 Mach1 that did not have factory air and I am installing it now. The only thing left is where the vacuum lines get fed through the firewall. I know it should be somewhere behind the intake manifold and above the blower motor on the inside. Does someone have a picture of where I drill a hole? Or, was there some special vacuum fitting mounted in the firewall that vac lines from both the engine compartment and interior plugged into? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Parts and Accessories Manual is not detailed enough on this one point. Thanks

  4. I can't find any mention of a donut spare in a 17" that fits my mustang. I know a crown Vic has a 16" that fits. I really hate to put a 16" spare in the car if not necessary. Also, will it even fit in the truck on a FB without a fold down rear seat? Thanks?
  5. Nice. I rebuilt the factory ac heater box unit. (now since I spent all that time doing it, too stubborn to throw out). Since I still have the original heater box, I'm not sure is room on the passenger side. I guess I could bolt up the heater box and see what room is left.
  6. Very creative. I've already got the complete new harness with 21 circuit box. It would be easier to just screw to the inside of the firewall. But unless I install everything on the inside, I don't remember where there is a free space I can screw in the box.
  7. I'm ready to install my American Autowire harness. I have not installed the new cowl yet. Since the firewall has nothing mounted on it, I don't know where there is a blank space that I can mount the new fusebox. The original fusebox was mounted on the steering column assembly. Can anyone provide either a clear picture on the inside of the firewall under the dash or give me reference points for measuring where there will be a space that won't interfere with anything else on the firewall?
  8. I have a 71 mach 1 with auto no AC. I stripped a wiring harness from a 72 fastback with auto and AC. Since I'm putting the AC unit from the 72 into my 71 mach, will I run into any problems using the wiring harness? Differences in dash, steering column, pollution controls or anything else? The only thing I can think of would be the front grill lights. Any help is appreciated.

  10. I've decided to replace my rusted cowl in a non-AC car. I also have all the AC parts and heater housing from an AC car. There is an aftermarket vendor that makes a repro non-AC cowl assembly. I know the firewall cutout is different between an AC or non AC car. What is the difference between the cowls? I decided since I have to go into the cowl, I want to do it right.   11. I have a 71 Mach 1 and am looking for three parts 1.) Front crossmember where the strut rods connect. (It looked like someone hooked a tow hook into the hole to tow the car and tore the hole edges out of the crossmember. I could beat it back in and weld it but prefer to replace. 2.) The crossmember under the engine looks like someone used a narrow jack in the center and bent it as well. 3.) Lastly, the urethane bumper rear support bracket (mounted horizontally) Any ideas for a source for good condition parts? Thanks! Bill
  12. Hello everyone My first car was 65 Mustang Fastback back in 1974 (which I'm sorry I sold). My second car was a 1971 Red Mach 1 back in 1977 (which I'm sure you guess I'm sorry I sold). I've now bought two cars: 1971 Mach 1 to restore and a 1972 Fastback for parts which I've stripped and cut up for parts. So, I now begin the odyssey... I'm looking for two parts.
