  5. I would have also. The main thing is if I can get the bolt out without removing the head that would be my preferred method.
  6. One of the alternator mounting bolts broke off a little while back. Check out this video from Jeff Ford for an idea.
  7. Here is where I downloaded my copy. It has colorized wiring, vacuum diagram, vol 3 of the electrical shop manual, and electrical IPB of the master parts catalog in one CD or download. I find it very handy. http://fordmanuals.com/estore/scripts/default.asp
  8. Welcome from down the road in Victoria.
  9. Not sure if this what you are looking for but in the master parts catalog in section 120 has all the distributor applications by engine with the part number cross reference.
  10. That's great stuff, I was smiling for you just looking at the pics.
  11. Interesting story of another survivor of sorts. http://artofgears.com/2015/06/06/this-1971-ford-mustang-mach-1-was-spared-from-colorado-tornadoes/
  12. Just to add to this tread, I saw this adapter at CJ Pony parts for adding a 3G alt to a 1G system. If someone wanted to maintain the "factory look" and connections. Anyone use one of these or heard of these? http://www.cjponyparts.com/pa-performance-alternator-conversion-kit-allows-use-of-3g-130-amp-alternator-1965-1985/p/ALTCK/
  13. Thanks for the reply but the link doesn't work...do you have a new one to try? Eric Try this: http://www.ausfordparts.com/
  14. If you want new heads check out these folks http://www.ausfordparts.com/afd4v.html. If want to say what iron just locate some more 4v heads that you can rebuild.
  15. I went with Champion in my 72. Was drop in install. Fit the mounts, shroud, and stock hoses. Check out the link: http://www.championradiators.com/ford-mustang-v8-radiator-71-73
  16. In the past I have used "full field" testing to troubleshoot charging problems. Here is a good link for this test and other test to help you troubleshoot this type of problem. Take a look at the load test, no load test, and full field test. Hope this helps. http://www.fordification.com/tech/charging.htm
  17. Welcome from Victoria Tx. I do some work in your area from time to time. Maybe get a chance see you and your stang sometime.
  18. Mine in just above and off to the right of the parking brake release handle.
  19. Will e gave a very good functional operation description. I have a GV on my 72 Mach 1 Q code and I would say it is one of the best upgrades I have added. I have put about 3300 miles on mine with no issues. It bolted right on with no mods. One of the main points I like is I can put the drive train back to original as I had a new drive shaft made for the GV setup.
  20. I find this site very useful. http://www.mustangtek.com/FordDateDecoding.html
  21. You might be able to look around some junk yards and get the best price but here is one cheaper I found on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/171513853155?lpid=82
