  1. Finally getting around to getting serious about selling my Mach 1. The engine has torqued the fan blade into the fan shroud and beat it up some so I'm looking for a replacement. I ordered one but it was immediately refunded when they found out they didn't have any. Anyone know of a source?

  2. "check your adjustment of your passenger's side hood lock down, as it appears to be pulling down the sheet metal around it badly."

Ditto - it's really apparent in the pic. Back off about 5-6 turns on the threads!

    Good luck.

The hood was fixed long ago, this is an older picture. I'm still keeping my 71 convertible (forever) and have a GT350 on order. I'll probably be selling my 12 Boss LS when the GT350 gets in this spring. If/when I sell the Boss I'll probably be looking for a clean fox body to tinker with and enjoy. Maybe even build up a drag car as it is something I've wanted to get into for awhile.

    Joel,

Let me know when you get that GT350. I would like to borrow it for a few days to see if I want one too.

Sure Mike. How about I let you put the first 1000 miles on her? lollerz

  4. Life can change in a hurry and mine has. I'm downsizing a bit so that I'm able to retire at 46. That means some sacrifices have to be made and in my case that means my 71 Mach 1 429 SCJ has got to go. Asking price is 46k. I bought her about 16 months ago from an ad on this site. I've put quite a bit of work into her including:

Replaced original 4 speed (included with sale) and now has a Tremec TKO-600 5 speed with original style Hurst shifter

    Replaced clutch

    New 4.10 posi rear gears

    New drive shaft

Brakes gone through and all in good working order, including a new proportioning valve

    New Holley 750 carb

    Full MSD ignition setup

Dyno tuned – 305 horsepower and 355 torque at the rear wheels

Car has been repainted and the hood and stripe work are flawless

New tires less thank 1k miles

    Magnaflow Mufflers – sounds incredible

Forgot to add: Complete Grab-a-Track suspension package from Mustangs Plus.

Contact me through PM first through this site. I'll be happy to discuss everything and email more pictures.

  5. As soon as I saw this I was thinking 2013 Boss Laguna Seca. It does seem like he has some stickers in the car indicating that. I'm with luxstang. Too much red and black. Too much going on but if you look at the body itself....kind of interesting.

Actually, 2012, not 13. I own number 472. This car would NOT look good in the garage parked next to it!

  6. So Monday my Girlfriend and I are flying to San Diego to pick up a lightly used 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca (black and red) I purchased this week. This is the actual first Boss I ever saw in person back in June 2012. It was owned by a co-worker of mine. Before that I'd only read about them and seen them online. That day I decided I would own a Boss. Fast forward to February of 2013 and I bought a 2013 Boss in Race Red. I really wanted a Laguna Seca but there were not many left by that time within a reasonable distance of me and the dealers were still asking over sticker for them. I bought my regular Boss for 1k under sticker. After 18 months I sold it for a 2012 GT500 which I sold last fall and bought my 71 Mach 1 429 SCJ 4 speed. I've regretted letting the Boss go since then. My first thought was to buy a new GT350 but I refuse to pay more than sticker for a new car. Every dealer I talked to either already had their allocation spoken for or wanted 5k to 15k OVER sticker price. So instead I decided to go ahead and find a Laguna. I mentioned this to my co-worker who still owned his Boss and he "jokingly" asked if I might be interested in his. Well I was very interested and we seen reached an agreement and now I'm the Proud owner of Boss LS #472. It has a Tiger Racing Fiberglass vented hood and a Ford Racing rear wing along with a nice stereo upgrade. Other than that it is bone stock with only 5,000 miles on it.

So next Tuesday morning we are waking up and starting our drive home to the Dallas area in Texas. I'm leaning towards the southerly route, I-8 to I-10. If anyone has any other suggestions or recommendations of where we should stop/stay/visit etc, I'd appreciate it. We plan on taking 4 days, getting home on Friday.

  7. Thanks for all the input guys. I'm going to start with one 4 post. By the time I am ready for a 2nd lift I will know if I need a 2 or another 4. In readding more online sounds like the Bendpack is the way to go.

  8. Now that the Texas floods are over construction has finally started on my shop. It is going to be 40 x 60 with 24 foot of the length taken up by an apartment and gym. So my actual shop space with be 36 x 40. I am wanting a good 4 post lift that will be suitable for working underneath my cars and also be used for storage when not working on a car. Eventually I will probably add a second for stacked storage.

Anyone have any recommendations from experience? Specifically brand, size, etc.

M code 351 4V with no Marti listed so can only assume it is an original 4 speed car. I would love to know if it were actually a factory ram air car! One of only 176 convertibles in 71 with the 4v and 4 speed. I own one myself and have only seen one other listed for sale on the internet in the last 15 months.

  10. Love the color combo as well. Would look great in my garage next to my matching 429 Mach.

I agree though that 82k is a stretch here. It says sale pending. Would love to know what it actually sells for.

  11. I had my car dyno tuned yesterday. It initially put down right at 280 horsepower and 335 torque. After adding some timing and carb adjustments to lean it out a bit the final numbers were 302 and 355. I would think that allowing for drive train loss these numbers are very close to the factory original and I'm pretty happy with them. The car runs better than ever and with the 5 speed and 4.11 rear gears it is an absolute blast to drive! Peak torque was just over 3000 rpm which is what my "butt dyno" would have guessed. This thing pulls hard in all 4 gears right up to shifting into 5th.

What would you guys think the numbers at the flywheel would be?

  12. What engine does it have in it? If you can restore it to a pretty high level and have a total of 20k in it you might make a little on it. There are a number of users on this site recently having troubles trying to get mid 20s on some really nicely cars though. So not a project I would recommend if your goal is making money on it. On the other hand, if you plan to keep it and enjoy it then absolutely go for it. 20k for the type of pleasure driving these cars gives is cheap! It is a very nicely optioned Mach for sure.

  13. I'm getting new Magnaflows next week and my 71 Mach 1 429 SCJ will be complete. I thought I would post a few pictures as a sneak peak. When she is finally finished and we have a sunny day I'll get more pictures taken and a video or two and get them posted.

  14. So the nostalgia of having a car that sounds like a demon straight out of hell has worn off and the Flowmaster 40s have to go. I'm not looking to make a huge step down in sound but need some suggestions for mufflers that will still let that big block sing without vibrating my teeth out with drone at 2500 rpm. Suggestions?
