  1. Looks like a great deal for someone if it is everything as represented.
  2. Forgot about colors. For the Grande I would order maroon metallic with black interior. For the convertible grabber lime with white interior and black top. For the Boss, bright red with black and red interior.
  3. At 16k I think someone got a good deal. I love the green exterior because t I am sure glad mine has black interior. I just couldn't do the green!
  4. What if you could order a brand new 71 to 73 Mustang today? Or maybe 2,one for a daily driver and one for a fun car. For a daily driver I would want a 71 Grande M code 4 speed loaded with practically every option including air, power windows, full gauges and am/fm radio. For my fun car I would want a combination of the 2 cars I have now, a 429 CJ convertible 4 speed with 3.50 traction lock and 4 speed. Power top and Windows, air, deluxe interior, etc. Then if I could have a third it would be a Boss 351. What would you order?
  5. 71 M Code 4 speed convertible 71 J Code 429 Super Cobra Jet 4 speed (Now a 5 speed) Mach 1
  6. Wish they had a lot more pictures http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-1971-mustang-mach-1-351-c-q-code-4-speed-/291344742730?forcerrptr=true&hash=item43d57ff94a&item=291344742730&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  7. Congrats! Beautiful car! Welcome to the Convertible and Mach 1 ownership club!!!!
  8. [video=youtube] Thought you guys might like to hear how she's sounding now that I've gotten everything done to her that I wanted. I think she sounds pretty mean! Since I got her I've made these changes: Original 4 speed Toploader replaced with a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed 3.55 gears replaced with 4.11s (what she originally came with) Replaced the Proportioning Valve to fix a very scary brake problem Replaced aftermarket 600 cfm with a new Holley 750 Full MSD ignition, coil and distributor Ram Air now functioning properly I run her on 93 octane with a bottle of Octane Booster each fill up. She starts right up with a bump of the key. Couldn't be happier with how she runs. I've had a few fast cars (08 Challenger SRT8, 13 Boss 302, 12 GT500) but even my GT500 didn't feel like it pulled as hard through the gears with tons of torque available in any gear. Thanks again Kit for helping make this happen! Joel

  10. When I first purchased my 429 I was planning on replacing the suspension with an OEM style kit from Mustangs Plus. Now that I've replaced the carb, MSD ignition, tuned her up, went with a new Tremec 5 speed and 4.11 rear end this car has crazy amounts of power. I now find myself wanting the car to handle much better than when it was new. It is going be be street driven only but I will drive it a lot. I don't expect it to handle like the 12 GT500 I sold to buy it but I do enjoy carving up some twisty back roads. Was thinking about the coil over suspension from the vendor hear and some subframe connectors. What can I do for the rear? Other ideas?
  11. Happy to report that replacing the proportioning valve did the trick. The brakes work perfectly. I sure appreciate the help with diagnosis.
  12. Beautiful car Turtle. I'm not usually a fan of non-stock wheels on our cars but yours look fantastic.
  13. I sure did and what a beast she is. She's back in the shop today getting the proportioning valve installed. Also, instead of rebuilding the transmission I bit the bullet and she is getting a 5 speed installed along with 4.11s! So it will be another week or 10 days but I'll get videos posted as soon as I get her back! Joel
  14. It is a 73 sportroof done up to look like a 71 Mach 1 429 including the engine swap and with a 4 speed. Looks like it would be a really fun car and I can tell you from experience, that 429 pulls like a tank! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang-Fastback-1973-mach-1-429-4-speed-clone-fastback-/131364468535?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1e95eeb737&item=131364468535&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  15. Beautiful. It is a shame Ford didn't actually make Mach 1 convertibles. They missed out as our cars look great decked out in Mach 1 adornments.
  16. I posted a few days ago about my brake issue and the general consensus is that the proportioning valve needs to be replaced. I nor my mechanic can seem to find a factory style one for my car. Anyone have any sources? 71 Mach 1 429 SCJ. Joel
  17. I'm going to try and see if I can get ahold of him. Would be great to get to know him and compare build dates!
  18. Yes, it has power front disc brakes. I will talk to my mechanic and mention the proportioning valve. Thanks!
  19. I'm experiencing an odd, and scary brake issue with my new (to me) 71 429. 98% of the time the brakes are working fine. But 3 times recently I've been driving and stepped on the brakes and.... NOTHING! The brake warning light comes on, the brake pedal has its normal resistance but no brakes at all. I get off the pedal then reapply and the brakes engage normally. I have not been able to find any leaks and it has plenty of fluid. The mechanic who installed the new carb and a few other times couldn't find anything either. Anyone experienced this before? Have any ideas? Don't really want to start replacing parts hoping to fix it but ultimately the car isn't safe to drive until I know the brakes will work 100% of the time so I might just have to.
  20. This car is now listed for sale on eBay via the dealership that bought it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-429-Cobra-Jet-We-Finance-1971-auto-rare-mach-1-429-cobra-jet-ram-air-w-matching-/161485025436?forcerrptr=true&hash=item259941f09c&item=161485025436&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  21. The story with the car is that it was bought for drag racing and that the original engine was blown in the first few months.
  22. I sure will. It actually doesn't have the original 4.11 gears, though it does have the #s matching 9" rear end. I believe it currently has 3.50s. Once I get it back and get some miles on it I'll decide for sure which route I want to go. Probably not all the way to 4.11s but around a 3.93. Could you imagine if you tracked down the other one! ;) That would really be something. But the chances it is even out there somewhere are pretty small. Actually finding it would be needle in a haystack worthy!
  23. You should hear her now. The new exhaust sounds incredible! She is at a local shop getting the new carb installed, a full MSD ignition system upgrade and an overall tune up. Hopefully I'll have her back early next week and can find out just how much of a beast she really is! Thanks again Kit for all the help in getting this car bought!
