  1. I will let you slide this time cause you don't know any better but that's your one shot :@ Always keep in mind "your not too far from me" :P Does anyone know if this trim part is available anywhere for a 72 Mach1 Fastback - it is at the top of the A pillar on the passenger side. If not any tips on repairing the same would be welcome - looks tricky to me ....
  2. My Mach 1 still has the original carpet set and they are turning crumbly. I've bought a replacement set from NPD and have read the accompanying instructions on the manufacturers website at accmat.com Do you guys have any special tips beyond what the manufacturer recommends? They mention that glueing down is an option. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for your tips
  3. Hi all, here's the first of my several queries as a newbie so bear with me - my guess is they've been answered before. I just did a quick search and didn't get to my answer... My 72 Mach 1 has Magnum 500 with Dunlop Radial GT Qualifiers all round - see pics in my gallery. I know they were not on the car when new - I have the Marti report. My questions are: - what size were the Magnum wheels and tires that were fitted as options in early 72? Mine are 14" and the tires are 275/60x14 all round. Most of the other Mach 1s I've seen with Magnums seem to be 15"?? - I have no idea how old the tires are but they are not young and I cannot locate a DOT mark anywhere on any of them. The look good and have no cracks but I'm guessing they must be 15 years plus old and I should therefore change them. So what to? I guess BF Goodrich would be available in this size but what others would you consider that would fit this wheel size? Thanks all in advance.

    Hello

Steve welcome from Beverly Hills Michigan. Looks like an amazingly original car you have there.
  5. Chris welcome from another newbie here in Michigan and good luck with the project. This site is terrific and full of helpful info and folks!
  6. Thanks for such a warm welcome guys, and from all over the world too. I'll try and figure out how to do the pin stuff on here and will shortly start to post my tech questions. My bride and I just returned to our home in Beverly Hills, MI after our elopement wedding up North on Monday. The Mach 1 was our bridal car of course!
  7. Hi there and thanks in advance for all the knowledge help and support I know is out there amongst you all. I'm going to need it I'm sure. A short intro. I'm a Brit living here in the US on a work assignment. Back in Europe I have a Cobra replica that I built and have owned for over 20 years and which I love. Having moved here at the start of this year without my car my fiance said that if I get a hobby car it here it must have a rear seat so we can all go out together - we have twin daughters. So I've always loved Mustangs too, and in my home town when I was a teenager someone owned a yellow Mach 1 from this era, and so the rest of the plan came together. I bought a 72 Mach1 CJ with 4 speed stick in Arkansas and drove it the 938 mile trip back to Michigan (steady freeway at 70-75 mph) I saw 15.3 mpg. I know (from bitter experience) that around town it drops substantially. A combination of a malfunctioning fuel sender and my poor estimation saw me with my first call to AAA and a ride on the flatbed for a 5 mile trip to home.... All part of the learning. Its a low mileage car that lived in CA and AR and is all original steel. Its had paint and has a few non correct items that I'll work on over the winter to gradually get them the way I'd like it to be. New suspension bushes and shocks will be on the list and a few electrical items too need sorting. Carpets too are going crumbly. But it runs great with no slop in the drive train, doesn't use oil and sounds terrific. Its matching numbers too. Anyway that's enough for now and I'll start asking my first questions for help and advice soon. Thanks again in advance. PS Had a great time at Mustang Alley and some of the other great events the Club arranged around Detroit to celebrate the 50th. Thanks to all that made these things happen.
