  1. Looking for 351 Cleveland heads 1970 4V Closed Chamber 62-64 CC Pedestal mount DOAE-N
  2. Dropping a 4R70W out of 2002 V6 stang into a 71 stang with 351-C. Got it all bolted up. Now to wire up to the US Quick 1 controller......need help with the wiring. Anyone else done this?
  3. Those OZ heads look great my issue is cost my head budget is half the cost of the OZ heads. My budget is limited when car is complete investment can not exceed average blue book value.
  4. Sway bars I never tighten mounting bolts while unsprung or with wheels jacked up. I do the final tightening under full weight to avoid binding and squeaking.
  5. 113mm/.051" on the manifold (side) and 95mm/.037" on piston (bottom). As I was wondering about the shave on the manifold....between bottom and side to maintain correct manifold fit. That is great information as I had not laid it out or done the math to check. Did you modify rockers for adjustable or stay with non-adjust pedestal mount rocker arms? I plan to stay with pedestal mounts using high grade ARP 5/16 bolts then either shim the rocker or adjust the rod length as needed to compensate for the .030"-.037" shave job.   7. I have the 73 2V engine with open chamber heads. i think the compression is way low like 8 or 9:1. Like to get it up to around 9 to 9.5:1 range. Considering a .030" head shave. Anyone else shaved 2V heads? If so how much is needed and at what point do issue with manifold match, valve piston clearance and detonation emerge? Any one done .030" if so is rocker arm shim or longer push rod required?
  8. Yep had to call Sherwin Williams Automotive paint TECH they then passed the information onto my local Sherwin Williams auto paint store. Called Mercedes Black Ultra U12739 Got it ordered.....$$$$95 per quart and the hardener like $195 per quart, reducer much better at $22 per quart not cheap but only two coats required and a single stage. Mix ratio isw 4:1:1. Use the 60 reducer to get the matte look. All the local Sherwin Auto paint shops were totally clueless kind told me I was fricked up...So I had the TECH guy straighten their smart hiney out.
  9. Looks really good. Back in the day most of the OEM stuff many hold so highly today went right into the trash. First thing I did was rip off all the smog crap and bypass or replace with pre-smog era Ford equivalents. Then the air cleaner right into the trash bin replaced with a low profile Baldwin or Weilland style unit. Ram-air on many would not work with hi-rise or dual tunnel ram manifold and Holley carbs so they got junked as well along the OEM coil, dizzy and spark plug wires, exhaust manifolds, exhaust system.   10. Interesting.........appears 4V also had the "B" baffle. I wonder some of those on eBay listed as BOSS 351 with a hefty cost might just be a std 4V pan. Good to know. I have hunch my 2V 351 will not have the "B" plate so I will run a bolt-on windage tray with 6 quarts.
  11. THX......I have to wonder how important the extra baffle is if wanting to run 6 quarts of oil? Wouldn't a windage tray that bolts onto the lower block just below the crankshaft serve the same purpose? Or is there something unique and superior to the BOSS/HO baffle that would be worth trying to reverse enginer and spot weld into a standard 351-C oil pan. Anyone ever measured and recorded the size, shape and location of the BOSS/HO baffle? Is there a repro of the BOSS/HO oil pan with the extra baffle? Most of the basic OEM style oil pans I see for sale seemed to have only the standard "A"
  12. So the Boss pan is same size with 6 instead of 5 quarts as other 351-C pans. One more quart is added. There is a special dip stick with black handle to indicate level for 6 quarts. And the Boss had some sort of windage tray attached below the crankshaft. So is that it...or is there something else another slosh plate perhaps on the Boss and CJ oil pans that the standard 2V and 4V oil pans do not have??????? See attachment.   13. My Ramair set up is on its way.....sounds like I might be in for some chop cut rebuild to make it work with my intake combo. This is a 2V head Cleveland I selected the 4V/4bl Performer as the 2V/4bl manifold passage port size is just ridiculously small and the Performer 4bl port size is a good match to my 2V head port sizes.   14. I pulled the trigger on the Cam Research Corp cam. The $60 breakin feature plus knowing it is made from USA steel in the USA by a company with a good reputation cinched it for me. It did cost around $100 more than off the shelf generic cam kits. Now my only other decision to make is whether to go with the stud conversion kit or stay with the OEM rocker screws.
  15. Got my cam spec'd by Cam Research Corporation today. Based off the 270H tweaked to my application. Cam and numbered lifters ship broken-in with matched springs and full double race roller timing set timed straight up.
