  1. Its not a problem. It doesn’t matter, I never have to remove it. There is no reason to.
  2. Here’s a pic of the primary site glass window. I forgot about the fact that they have a snap ring to be able to remove and replace the windows. Pretty cool and I have not seen them leaking or anything like that. I got this carb in 2018, so it’s not very old.

  5. All good ideas, I recently put some dry gas in but no fuel treatment. That probably wouldn’t hurt. No on the Teflon tape for any fuel connections. I did clean my fuel filter screen and made a new 3/8 steel fuel line. I checked everything there too, no kinks or anything like that.
  6. So I happened to have a brand new needle and seat. Changed it and set the bowl levels. It starts and runs good. I reved it up a few times and no fuel coming out of the vent tube. But it’s raining here today so I couldn’t drive it to see how it is under load and at full temp. Got it warm enough for it to come off the choke and idle down though. Anyway here’s a pic of the old needle and I think I had fuel going around the seal. Lot of white junk on that seal.
  7. I think the shop that did work on my car got the harness from NPD. That’s where they get a lot of their parts from. Looks just like the one in my car now. I had the Scott Drake halogens too. They were much better than the original lights and probably the best thing Scott Drake made in my opinion. But these new leds are much brighter.
  8. Good point. Only reason I thought about removing the bowl was to see if I have any crap in there. I think I will just remove the needle and see what it looks like. Thanks mjlan!
  9. Why would I remove the site glass? They are not leaking. My carb instructions say to set the float level in the middle of the glass. There’s actually a line cast into the side of the bowl in the middle of the side glass. This is to help with setting the level. I think I have a new needle and seat and that’s the first thing I need to check.
  10. Ok I thought I had maybe got some bad gas, not sure now. Yesterday I was driving my car and it started hesitating and then it quit running. Pulled on to a side street and stopped rolling. Then I tried to start the engine and it started back up. Took off and it died again. So after a few minutes it will start again, went through this a few times and I got it home and in my garage. I took air cleaner off to see what is going on. Got it to start right up and when it’s idling it is running like normal. But when I rev the engine up few times and let off the accelerator, fuel comes out of the primary vent tube and it gets sucked into the carb and dies. So it gets basically flooded out and then the engine dies. I have the float level in the middle of the site glass, right where it’s supposed to be. So I may have a bad or dirty needle and seat? Carb is a newer Quick Fuel HR 735. I put new non brass floats in last year and I am sure the levels are good. I did put a new fuel pump on this year, old one was leaking. Maybe too much fuel pressure? I don’t have a pressure gauge or a fuel regulator on, never had issues with this before. I will remove the front bowl and check out the needle and seat. Then I will reset the fuel level. If I don’t find anything in there then it’s gotta be a fuel pressure issue, right?
  11. The original relay harness I bought got ruined in my accident. I don’t remember where I got them, but it was before I knew that Rocketman sold them. But the one I have now was replaced by the shop that repaired my car and I have no idea where they got them from. From the pics you posted compared to mine the light looks pretty much the same to me.
  12. Ok, here’s a few pics. I just hid the relay harness that goes over to the drivers side light up in the bumper. My relays are not hidden though. I did have them behind the rad support, but after I had the front end repairs done they put them on the front side of the support. I have been wanting to move them back but haven’t got to it yet. Other than that the connections at the headlights are behind the lights, so not to noticeable. I could probably tape up some of the new wiring so it’s not as noticeable too, but good enough for now.
  13. I installed my lights yesterday. I really like them! Got to try them on the road tonight and there is a big difference, much brighter than the halogens. I didn’t bother trying to see a difference between relay vs no rely, sorry didn’t have time. But I did take a couple pics of the halogens vs the led. Led on the driver side are brighter and whiter. Last pic is both sides led and I didn’t have the engine running. Very happy so far!

  16. Ok so I am not going crazy after all! I put some of the bad gas I drained out of my Mach and put some in my riding lawnmower. It ran for few minutes then it died. Just like my car did. So I drained out that tank and put fresh fuel in and no problems. Started right up and it was running like normal. Not sure what the hell kind of fuel that was, but I have about 6 gallons of it and I guess it’s going on the bonfire! Thought maybe I could mix the bad with some fresh just to get rid of it that way, but not going to chance it. I’m almost thinking it’s E85 and they mixed up what tank they put it in at the gas station. Won’t be going there any time soon. I have at least 3-4 other stations close by that have 93 octane. Thanks again guys.
  17. So I finally took my car out for a drive yesterday. First time I have driven it since it died on me. Had no problems, ran fine and it didn’t die on me! Lol. I guess I had just enough water for it to quit running when it did. It has started every time with no problems, like normal. Still a bit baffled by this but, it could not be anything else. Thanks again for everyone’s feedback! All is good!
  18. We had some snow here the other day but not enough for the salt trucks to go out. I actually drove my car yesterday and it didn’t die on me, lol.
  19. I’m sure they will. If they are just like your pics, then they will be great. The halogens were a nice improvement over the originals, but theses look very much brighter. Looking forward to seeing the difference 1st hand. Thanks again for all your work and pics of the difference from old to new. I will try to see if any difference between them with and without the relay harness. But I don’t think there will be. The difference will be noticed in the dashboard, cause the relay harness takes the load off the dash harness, but I’m definitely not an electrician so I could be wrong about that. I’ll post results when I get them installed.
  20. Geoff, I ordered the exact same things as you did today. I can’t wait to get them! I thought the halogens were a big improvement over the original ones, but these will be even better. I think the headlight relay harness helps with making the dashboard board illumination brighter too. One of the best and simplest mods we have done to these cars.
  21. Yup, when I bought my car the plug had already been jb welded or whatever was used. It didn’t last long. I drove it 3 hours home, then a couple days later it was done. I just ended up going with a different carb, but my car has been restored so not that worried about the originality as much as you would with your car. I did keep all the original stuff that I have replaced. I’m pretty sure that there’s a place that rebuilds these carbs, someone will chime in. Sorry no help

  23. Thanks for posting this Chris, I am ordering these. Tired of being blinded by all the new cars headlights. I don’t drive at night to much, but these should make it much easier to see. I’ve got halogens with a relay now, which is much better than stock but I’m sure theses are even brighter. Thanks again!
  24. Looks great! I’ve seen a similar color on the pumps before, but not sure if it was from factory. But as far as when your car was built, that’s almost a mid year build. Production for the next model years started end of August or the beginning of September. Anyway looking good and hopefully it is running as good as it looks!
