  1. I would love to get them, I will need them, but I do not even have the rims yet to put them in. Still trying to figure out what size to get. I hope you still have them when I need them
  2. I think that is a perfect attitude!!!! It is fixable and probably should be, just keep in mind it will not be a cheep fix. But worth it in the end!!! Good luck and ask us lots of questions to help you do it!!!!
  3. part 1 of my answer to this. is just the outer rocker bad?? do you have any pics of the problem?? also do you have a mig welder??
  4. It is where you hold a piece of copper or aluminum like 1/4" thick on the back side of the hole you are trying to welded. that helps you fill the hole. Ahh I see. I've never welded up a hole...just joined stuff together. Still pretty new at MIG welding. If you can do that you can fill a hole, just hold the copper flat against it and you will be fine. Give it on an scrap piece, you will like how it works. Just remember to use something to hold the copper, not your hands!!!! it get very hot VERY fast!!! They pull the heat from the work you are welding. It works very well that way, I will use copper under thin metal just to keep it cooler and reduce warpage. hope this helped, ask more if you need!! I can also take pics to show you if you need, a pic is worth a 1000 words!!!!
  5. What is copper backing or aluminum baking? It is where you hold a piece of copper or aluminum like 1/4" thick on the back side of the hole you are trying to welded. that helps you fill the hole.
  6. That also sounds great, That is what I am looking for, some thing that will turn heads!! now I bet that kind of paint job would be very hard to do.. I was thinking of painting it my self. I am going to paint an old beater car I have to see if I can do it.
  7. Unclaimed the front point of the car ( this point was not welded) rechecked EVERY THING again. the frame looks level but the rockers are off. the best part that was making me go the most crazy is it looks like the doors were never set correct from the start. It looks like they were never moved. So I will go over it all again and then start the repair. Thank you Scott for all the advice!!!
  8. WOW, glad to here that!!!! Have fun!!!
  9. Doc..I almost did this brown on my 71 Camaro..But given the deadline I'm under with the car I decided to keep it yellow but 2010 corvette yellow..If you take this pic to an auto body supply house they can mix it..I think this colour brown with the rite flakes in it ..black top..& the right wheels would be unique & classy..If you notice there's a nice silver sheen to this colour..It would have to be sprayed on top of a silver base to get that effect....JMO now I like that, I will have to keep this in mind!!! Thanks always!!!!
  10. I know this was talked about a little before but I was just wondering what you all think would look good on my car. Stock my vert is med brown met with med ginger knitted vinyl interior and a white top. I think I want to keep the ginger interior since I have new carpet for it, came with the car. the top I want to change to black and I want to do black stripes on the bottom and on the NASA hood. ether I stay close to the brown ( I really do not think I like the brown) I just picked up some sunburst Gold met and I think it is too lite in color. Or change to something much different ( white)?? I would love to here what you would think would look better, thanks
  11. yep, very good motivation!!! I wish I had that kind of help!!!LOL
  12. Looks like you have real talent for metal and welding work. I'm glad you still able to enjoy your retirment to some extent, even with the bad heels. Thank you and I keep trying every day. my new saying is, one step at a time!!!
  13. I have been Disabled since I shattered both my heals Nov 2008. I started out as an auto mechanic at a local Ford dealer, did that for a while and went in the USAF. Got out in 93 and started working at a big Pharmaceutical company in vaccine production, 3 years later went to maintenance. worked on all kinds of things I have never seen before. learned boilers, steam fitter, plumbing, electronics, WFI water (pure water) on and on.. Learned how to weld and started doing the precision Tig welding 316 stainless steel. tubing and flat stock. In 2001 I started my own business welding & fabrication on the side, did very well but wanted to stay with the full time job for benefits. around the same time I moved up to maintenance supervisor at the lab. I was one of those supervisors that was could not put the wrenches or tig torch down and was always out with the guy's. I had my accident and was out for 6 months and had to go back before my feet were healed ( that is all the time for short term disability) I only lasted 2 1/2 months and had to leave again for more surgery, that was the end of my working. I can still do things that does not require lifting heavy, but I can only do them for very short periods of time. It take me a long time to do things anymore!! So in a nut shell that is what I do, as far as the $ for the mustang... retirement $$ Just hope it does not run out!!! here are some pics, I really like welding!! the ss tubing looks the same inside as out, purge welded. the cage I just made to see if I could do it, and yes it has steps!!
  14. Update: The car was set to the chart measurements, was able to get all but one spot( the idler arm point "C") it is 1/2" lower then Scott told me it should be(??? do not know why????). Welded the car to the jig ( mistake, but ratchet straps were not holding good), found the left side looks good top/bottom rocker, all door gaps yea!!!! But the right side is not!! top of rocker is level, the bottom rocker pinch seam in the back is 1/4" high and the bottom of the door in the back is 1/4" low. even the end gap shows it is off!! So today is too cut it off the jig, make my attaching blocks adjustable (like I was going to do but did not) and figure out where the problem is. Wish me luck Correction..... the right side door end gap is only 1/16" off at the top( B= 3/16" T= 1/8") and the left side door is off by 1/8" at the top (B=3/16" T=1/16")
  15. Yes they are, and since they are already machined for an adjustable valvetrain, they might as well be Boss 351 heads. thank you, that is what I was thinking but did not know for sure. The cam I put in is a little better then the 351 boss also.
  16. Love it!!! I will remember that!!!!

  18. is it the 9L7 on 1 head and 9K20 on the other?
  19. When I got my 351C 2v the guy had a set of 4V heads in the trunk. I had the rocker bosses (?? rocker bolt points) cut down and installed adjustable roller tip rockers. How can I tell what kind of 4V heads they are? I can answer this one. The combustion chambers are pretty distinctive between the different heads. The head on the left is open chamber (71-73), the head on the right is closed chamber (70-71) in this pic the right one is my old 2V head and the left is the new 4V head. is the closed better then to open? I would think so.

  21. Small world, so you were there for the air show mess. I used to come down for training and had a friend who worked at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. She was a nurse there that I used to visit every so often.:D Well........yes I was........ my job was too launch the jet that were there for the air show and crash recovery. And I am not proud of it but I was the one who launched the jet that caused the crash. That was a VERY bad day!!!!!! I almost lost my wife and kids that day, they were standing where the one crashed. They had just walked away 5 mins before it hit to go home. My wife thought that the other 2 that came my way hit me. I even took a pic of it when they hit in the air. I took care of all non assigned aircraft that came to the base, also crash recovery. I loved it, I think I have worked on every kind of jet in NATO even Russian. Widowmaker00 where are you??
