  1. Thank you all for your wealth of knowledge! I’m excited to get this in running order. It’s been an uphill battle even though the car came from family in Southern California and was driven throughout it’s life. Nevertheless, as soon as I fix one thing, another goes. I feel like I’m playing whack-a-mole. 😂
  2. Thank you for the info. I’m going to be tackling this soon and my other goal is a T-5 swap, so it sounds like deleting emissions and adding the Performer Intake and 4bbl will compliment that upgrade nicely.
  3. Is it easy? I thought I remember a thread on how to accomplish this, but for the life of me I can’t find it. I would like to install an Edelbrock Performer 4 barrel/2V intake and I would love to delete the extraneous stuff. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for your reaponses. If I want to change plugs/wires and distributor, what are good ones that work well in our Cleveland motors? I have a stock 2v engine and I don’t plan on more power, just as close to original as possible.
  5. Ok, so I went out to start the car and video the symptoms. I also looked around the base of the heads and I didn’t see any evidence of coolant. The car started up fine and chugged a little bit but it seems that it’s a fueling/ignition problem because it is smoking out both sides and it’s a straight duel exhaust.   7. The mechanic replaced the radiator hoses and filled the collant system. How would I diagnose a blown head gasket, compression check? I haven’t replaced or removed heads. I don’t think they’ve been touched since 1973. 😂
  8. Hey everyone, I just had quite a few items fixed on my '73 Coupe and it was running well until the other day. I went out to start the car and it took awhile for me to start and I had to keep my foot into the gas pedal to keep it running. When it was running, it was running rough like it was missing on some cylinders and it was puffing white smoke pretty good. As soon as I let off the gas pedal it would die. The engine would lope and vibrate quite a bit as well. I did fill up about 3/4 of the tank with 100LL avgas about two months ago but I had driven it about 50 miles or so on that fuel with no problems. The mechanic that I took it to did advance the timing a little bit more than stock and said 100LL would be good to run. It seems to me that it could be an ignition problem and I haven't ruled out fouled plugs as I know from flying general aviation aircraft that we have to burn off the deposits on plugs from time to time. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks. Captain Morgan

  10. I could go with 15x10 and 275/55r15 on the rear but the highest backspacing I can get in the particular wheel is 5”. I’m not sure if that will stick out too far.
  11. Looking at new wheels and tires. I have a 73 Coupe stock suspension now, at most might possibly go with a more modern setup in the front with coilovers down the road. I wanted to make sure that 15x8 with a 4.5” Bs will fit with 245/60r15 all around. Thanks!

  13. Just an update. From what I can tell, it looks like the oil is coming from the valve cover gaskets. If this is indeed the culprit, I can live with that problem. Now my transmission... that’s another story. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  14. That is exactly my situation as well. Since I’ll have to change the gasket, I have been wanting to replace the intake manifold with an Edelbrock Performer and a 4 barrel carb. I’m going to dig into it in the next few days. I’ll let you know what I find.
  15. Thanks for the tips. I’ll try and take a look in the next few days. The engine has 98,000 miles on it and it hasn’t been driven often for the last 20 or so years. I am betting it’s going to need a little more work than I had hoped for.
  16. I was checking things out after a drive and found a bit of oil saturating the area around where the transmission mounts up with the engine. It's not actively dripping but it's pretty wet. Is this common for an older car or should I be budgeting new gaskets and seals? This car is newly in my custody and I'm trying to assess the problems.

  18. I have a UR front bumper cover and beam for sale. The beam is in okay condition but is very heavy so if you don’t want the beam, I can disassemble and ship just the cover piece. The cover is in okay condition. Originally it was Orange but someone painted it black and it is peeling off. There are no large gouges or cuts/holes but there is almost a shaved area as shown in the pictures. I’ve been told that it can be repaired. The attachment region on the underside has some cracking but it still attaches to the beam. I’d like to get a $150 plus shipping for the cover. I’m located in South Florida if someone wants to make a local pickup.

  20. Hey all, thanks again for the replies. In the interest of time and working this problem via long distance (car is at my mother’s house), I’ve decided to order the parts through NPD and have a professional mechanic do the job. I’m going to replace the booster assembly, master cylinder, and prop valve with new lines so that it’s done. My mother wants the car out of the garage and it I need to get it down to Florida somehow so I can start enjoying it. I’ll keep you all posted on what the problem turned out to be.
  21. Congrats on your find! I am looking at swapping out my coupe’s non-scooped hood for one of these. Apparently, it’s better to find a real one vs. a repro. Are the repro’s that bad? I’m new to the whole car restoration game, so go easy on me. Thanks.
