  1. Were those stock valves? Mine were stock valves and they are notorious for the heads coming off the stems. Mine had the valve head pop off the stem and went into the cylinder and destroyed it almost exactly like yours. My motor have very few hours/miles on it.
  2. Also here a few pics of the original 71 I painted a few years ago. I copied exactly where the factory blackout went to in the doors jambs. I’m pretty sure they changed them slightly in 72. Yours will go a little higher on the body since this car has the decor trim and yours does not. You car is looking great!! Keep up the good work.
  3. Hood stencil is looking great. Don't forget when you shoot the rest of the black, to paint the inside edge of the tail lights where the honeycomb goes.
  4. Damn that sucks! I had the exact same thing happen to my motor few years ago.
  5. That's funny, mine is the same way. I just didn't want to be the first to admit it!
  6. Interesting to see the varying views on the subject.
  7. Satin Black and add the lower body stripes.... it helps break up the body a bit and looks great. I almost painted my car white and really like the look on our body style.
  8. I dropped my motor trans and headers in as 1 assembly.
  9. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sca-1-46260be/make/ford Forged crank here if that's the route you decide to go.
  10. How much power you plan on making?? I run the shit out of mine and it has held up well over the years. Mine is cast.
  11. Here is the kit I used for mine. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sca-1-94270be/media/images/make/ford
  12. I am running the Scat 408 kit in my car with AFD heads. I love it and have had 0 issues with the bottom end. Been in my car for several years with some spirited driving miles on it. My engine builder estimated around 600hp.
  13. Yep all you need these days is a 10mm socket.
  14. Took a day off work today and spent some time in the garage working on the 65. Got it pretty much all put back together. Still have the exhaust to finish up, some interior work, and it needs a good bath and cleaning. It fit back together pretty decent. I would of aligned stuff a little better if I was painting it but there’s only so much you can do without hurting the paint. Hopefully get it lined up next week and she will be back on the road.
  15. My headers have been on for years with 0 issues and never have to tighten bolts. I run nice thick copper gaskets. They are reusable and seal well.
  16. Well its been a busy few weeks at work and I haven't got much done on the car at all. Worked over 250 hrs in the last 3 weeks! So not much garage time. But yesterday I only had to work 8 hours so I figured I would get something done on the car. I was able to get the motor dropped back in last night and get it fired up. Still need to get the exhaust on and get the front sheetmetal on and then she's done. Hopefully be able to finish it up this weekend. Here's a few pics of the motor in the car. IMG_8092.MOV
  17. Engine is looking great. Cant wait to see the numbers! Good luck and have fun on vacation!
  18. Don at OMS sells repop factory wheels that are very nice! They are not cheap but they are really nice.
  19. Well done. The lines on that car are awesome! Great job so far!!
  20. lol!! Good luck. I have removed many of those over the years. Piss poor design. Steering wheels are nice but their horn set up blows!!!
  21. +1 on what Geoff said. We had several Petronix 3 go bad on my parents 66. Put in the original ignitor 1 and had 0 issues since. Also the duraspark systems work great too, I installed them in several cars over the years.
  22. +1 on The Sem hot rod black. I used it and its seems to be really nice paint.
  23. Aren’t you a crafty SOB. Nice job on the jig. Simple but effective!
