  1. Not yet but the latch barely catches now. Adding weatherstrip will just push it higher and never latch.
  2. I finally found a detailed diagram in the Body Assembly Manual. My taillight panel was about 1/4” lower than the pan. I just manipulated the brackets until they fit. Not sure why the gap. I set the panel in matching the weatherstrip track. It’s good now.
  3. Another suggestion for fitting the panels together before welding is Cleco pins. I watched a video and got a decent starter set from Amazon next day. Now I regret not using them sooner.
  4. I made the mistake of buying one of these shorter trunk pans from CJ Pony because it had free shipping vs. NPD that had the regular pan but $175 shipping. In the end I bought the NPD because I already cut out the old pan to the weld joints. CJ was nice enough to refund me and didn’t want the pan back. Now I’m stuck with a short pan. Need to find a way to sell it and get it out my garage.
  5. Mine don’t sit flat so I’m guessing I need to grind down the new trunk pan so the two match up. I didn’t consider this when I welded in the taillight panel. I just lined up along the bottom and made sure the weatherstrip channels lined up. I guess that’s part of the learning experience. I’ve got other issues but I really don’t want to remove the panel now it’s welded in. My right quarter panel top is now to close to the trunk lid. I’m dealing with a car I bought that was apparently rear ended and the PO did a good job of bondo’ing to make it look right. There’s damage under the panel extension so I’m buying that part to weld in. Maybe while there I can adjust the gap once I remove those weld in that upper right area of my taillight panel to get the new piece in. Ideas?
  6. I just replaced my taillight panel and welded this old bracket back in place. It fits perfectly and the upper welds to the weatherstrip channel perfectly. I put the lock catch back on last night and now my trunk lid is too low. I’ve adjusted the bracket as high as it goes and the lock as low as it goes. Still about 1/2” to low below the quarter panels. Not like this before replacing the panel but it all lined up when I welded the panel back on. Only thing I can think to do is drill out the holes in the bracket so it slides up higher. I’m just puzzled and wondered if others experienced this as well. I’d love to see other pictures inside the trunk showing those support brackets. I’m guessing I just weld them centered between the two bumper mount bolt holes. It’s confusing because there’s a smaller hole in between the two big bumper bolt holes. The Ford Parts manual doesn’t help at all. I ordered a body assembly manual in hopes it does a better job. Thanks.
  7. Can you post all the parts you still have or is your original post still valid? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. What a waste. Moderator please remove this post. Two plus months later and still no posting of prices or part photos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks the advice. Rust Bullet was awesome on my surface rust after wire wheeling and degreasing. Even after I applied Rust Bullet I still spayed with chassis black and next will lay down dynamat before the carpeting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Crazy trying to make sense of this with all the weird stuff stuck in there. My release is part of the back section if that answers your question? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have some seats I have hinges bolts too Where are you located? - I'll PM you Thanks. I need a hinge bolt and washer. Everything I read showed there being a pivot pin and cotter pin holding the back on. Took my seat out and when I removed the cover from the side that was complete I discovered it was a star bolt and washer. Now I can't find that part either so if you or someone else has it please let me know. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I just bought a '72 Coupe that only has one front seat. It's the driver seat but after a more careful look I discovered it was the passenger seat mounted in the drivers spot. It works, apart from a missing bolt on the hinge which I need to find online hopefully, but I still need another seat. Looking online about all I can find are replacement upholstery, foam, and sliding seat mounts. How do I get a full seat that is true to the original? Lots of complete repro seats for the 60's models. Any suggestions for this new owner and first time poster to this forum? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
