  1. The headers were just installed about 2 - 3 months ago when I swapped the intake manifold for a 1970 square bore. Initially I was considering just swapping the heads, but was convinced by the accumulated knowledge of this board that changing the timing chain made good sense. And, with the engine disassembled that far, WHILE I'M AT IT, it made sense to do the cam (and probably the water pump (I have no idea when/if it was last replaced)). And, since I have to remove the header, this was the best time to swap steering boxes a 12.6 close ratio. I've already replaced the freeze plugs. I know
  2. I am almost ready to get the work done and was hoping someone could give me a reasonable estimate of how many hours it should typically take an experienced shop to change the heads, timing gear and cam on a 73 351c. While I realize that there is no definitive answer, it should at least give me an idea of how much I need to budget for the work (assuming nothing catastrophic occurs/is found).
  3. Thank you, I plan on doing the chain anyway, just like understanding.
  4. I understand the idea of the adjustable timing set, what I am trying to understand (more for my own understanding and education than anything else) If I switch to a 1970 or 71 cam (which I infer does not have the 4 degrees of retard ground in) do I avoid having to use the variable timing chain set? And (follow-up question) if that is correct, what advantage is there to the chain solution over just changing the cam (which I expect I would do anyway to maximize power)?
  5. Rereading this can I avoid changing the timing set (and still regain the 4 degrees by simply going to a different (earlier?) cam?
  6. I've messaged him 3 times, never received a response.
  7. from the air cleaner I need the small plastic nipple on the side of the breather element for the gas vapor return line

  10. Also how much for the center dash bezel, either with or without the gauges (If anyone wants the gauges, all I need is the bezel, my mechanic broke mine)
  11. from the non-ram-air air cleaner I need the small plastic nipple on the side of the breather element for the gas vapor return line
  12. Can anyone tell me are these closed chamber heads? Seller says they are but can't get me/find casting #.
  13. I may have a line on a set of cc heads, the seller cant find the casting #s. Can anyone tell me exactly where they should be?
  14. Do you have any more you would sell? I need 2 (preferably white or a light color, but I’ll take whatever I can get). If so, how much, shipped to 11757?
  15. Does anyone know of a source for the small plastic trim inserts that go around the seat belt where it goes through the rear quarter panel plastic cover (or has any in reasonable condition that they would be willing to sell)?
