  5. Thanks Will E and Ray. Both cool links..... I saw the fe intake on a Fairlane M/T made Mopar style Fordish hemi heads for. They made like 3 pairs. The idea was dumped by M/T when the SHOC Fords came out just a short time later. So I have seen adapters to put 351c intakes on fe's . I had contemplated have an M/T fe intake machined down to fit ? Just a nutty idea for a rainy day. I like Willy, I can remember he is a tri-power 351c man? I saw a Speed master dual quad that was tempting too. Sure like to know if any one has tried it. two 450cfm Holley's or 2 500 cfm Edelbrocks would work..... Also considered getting a Bud Moore Mini ram , slap some M/T logo's on it....... Has anyone gone to all these new efi deals ? Thanks Joe Stang.....

  7. hey guys and gals , did m/t ever make a 351c Intake manifold ? I have seen Bud Moore Mini rams , Shelby dual planes too . If you have a early 70's M/T cataloge please check and let me know. I have only seen one for FE Fords so far . I have the valve covers already. Thanks ! Joe Stang.:chin:
  8. The Edelbrock and Carter cabs a just about bullet proof . There are some good posts here . Fuel pump seemed to ring a bell with me . Just for fun check out your fuel cap. if it is a replacement cap it needs to be vented. Good luck and don't give up. you will find a solution.
  9. Hey , how bout using the inside headlights on the cougar for thunder bolt style ram air to the intake ? it will look better than the stock air box for sure. Cool build . Keep me posted on tuning it . Joe Stang
  10. I remember our old DM at Super Shops , Dan B doing a killer stinky burn out in a rental car just like the donor. It was impressive.
  11. Awesome car and I am in love again.....Total home run being a stick car. I am happy for you and jealous too. Great buy. I do like the black too vs yellow .
  12. Also I found a cherry ram air hood I will be adding to the car too while the engine's out. I found it at the local pic-n-pull , rust free for $56.00. I have been looking for one like this since 1988 ! I couldn't see getting a re pop fo $400.00+.....The pic is "old hood".[/img]
  13. I can store it here for you for free. Be sure to leave the keys!!! kcmash It looks great and I love 351 2vs . I would guess 15k would be a fair value at least. It has very low mileage for sure.
  14. i had to pull the 351c. The cam went flat on a lobe and pumped metal throughout the motor. She will need new cam, main and rod bearings . And then re-balance too. Its total my fault. I ran stout solid lifter springs with a milder hyd cam . I knew better. On the upside I found a neat NOS Crane Cam kit to replace the dead Crower. Not Crowers fault . It was a neat grind and ran well when it did..... Its a struggle for me to run a hyd grind with adj valve train . With the solid cam I was always 100% sure on adjustments . With the Hyd , not so much.
  15. Hello Don , Mike and Chuck . It's a sign from the Mustang gods I needed to fix my password and get back with your guys and gals . I have been playing with the timing on my 71 and I can tell it's not happy yet . I am running a Crower cam , 530/540 ish lift and and dura spark dizzy with MSD cap . Also Hyfire 4 cd box . I have the plug gap set @ .35 on plugs now and will try .40 when I get the timing debacle handled. In the past with a bigger cam (solid 588) I can remember running darn near 40 deg. total . It was easy with the Mallory dizzy I had . I had 28 mech built in it with no vac . Seemed like it was all in @ 2800 rpm too . I was hoping the dura with Vac would be a better deal but so far I have been lost with it . Also I noticed the base of the Dura dizzy can be rotated a bit because the base clips are a bit loose . I am tempted to epoxy or screw the base down so things a not not so loosy-goosy below the cap . Sorry I have been gone so long . I did miss you guys and gals . I will update you all with the new stuff do to my 71. Thanks for the great info and support . Joe Stang
  16. Lots o' black paint. I'll let it cure till Sunday and Shoot coat #2 after wet sanding a bit of the hood. Another great and important feature of the Manley valves are that they have a "single groove" to hold the retainer on them. These are much better than the stock multi groove style that can fail @ high RPM. They sure look great. Joe Stang
  17. Is the passenger side mirror in the same location as the drivers side? I am painting my car and need to drill the "new" holes in the passenger door before the 2nd coat. My guess is that it is . Sure would like to hear from a Mach 1 guy or gal so I know for sure. Thanks , Joe Stang
  18. I made some spacers out of aluminum stock and rounded them with grinder/sander to smooth them out. I needed them to clear the sides of the body on my coupe . They are not as tall as the 69-70 feet. My 70 fastback had a 71 wing (mounted backwards) on it and "they" bent the mounts to fit the 70 fastback deck lid.
  19. it's sick power to weight and orange. I'd have it !
  20. Sorry for your loss. Glad your OK and be happy you were NOT driving a Yugo or MG. Fellow Coupe owner Joe Stang
  21. I've got to get a vote in for premium fuel too.....
