Can someone give some advice on a torque converter. What would be a stock RPM on a stock C6 351 4V Maybe 1800 - 2000? If I'm using the car for mild street use but need some bragging rights..would it make any sence to upgrade to a 2800 RPM. I have no idea what I pulled out of the trans. No id or any logos.

Thanks

I would shoot Jorgem2 a pm he seem to be the expert in this area or maybe fastE will chime in
The factory convertor for the 351 CJ,with a C6 was / will measure 10" across. It was / is good for around 2500 +/- stall.Depends on the power your C is making.I am still using the factory convertor and have had great luck with it.I had one that I sent to a convertor shop and had them re-work it and got about 3500 out of it with good luck also.

These are great convertors on the street.Just measure the diameter. That will tell you alot about what you have.

Depends on several variables like cam, rpm range, gears, etc. But I would add that those 4V heads like a lot of stall, 2500 rpm was stock on the C6 Cobrajet engines so, if you have more cam, better exhaust, better intake, I would start to look around 2800 min, maybe more like 3000.

Call or email some of the converter specialists for suggestions.

Here is one I used in the past

PM is fine as well

I agree with FastE. Actual stall speed depends on many variables. The number suppliers quote you is ball park estimate. Like most car parts more is not always better. Example: 3000 stall with 3.00 gear and 26 " tall tires, you would need to be going 77 MPH to reach the stall speed. In town driving, you will never get to stall speed. The car will feel sluggish, mileage goes down, and you will be heating the fluid a lot. The intended use of the car must be clear and all of the parts matched to that purpose.

If you do buy an aftermarket convertor plan on buying a new flex plate also. As far as I know, none of the convertor suppliers support the bolt pattern of the 10" 351CJ convertor/flex plate.
