if you have the decal on the drivers door jam and it matches your dash vin, and the vin under the front fenders then you can decode the original transmission easy. otherwise get a marti.
some transmissions had a partial vin number located on top of the case. but it wasn't standard on all transmissions, i think the C6 was stamped on the V4 cars, but the FMX was not, and the lower end C6 H codes were not either, then later 73 they started to stamp more due to regulations to lower the number of revined stolen cars.
if you just want to know what trans you have on the car now you look at the trans fluid pan.
Also like don pointed out there is mistakes on websites and information gets confused.
Basically in 1972 due to government regulations on emission you could not order a V4 engine with ram air. after 1971 the ram air was only available on V2 cars as a factory option.
however the dealer could install ram air on any V4 car. the ram air would not show up on the car's original invoice. so no 72-73 V4 cars came with ram air from the factory.
this is similar to the chin spoiler on 71-73 cars, the only factory cars that got a chin spoiler was the 1971 boss 351 cars (and the one 302 version) after that the chin spoiler was dealer installed only or you installed it yourself at home.
