This was in my parts car and I know nothing about it. Can someone tell me about it? I actually have two of them.

Mega or star shifter. Detent till drive, er 1rst. Pull up on the small handle, pull back, and you get positive stop ratchet shifting, IIRC... been a while since I messed with one.

yep defiantly looks like a ratchet shifter, I never liked going through the gears before I could return to 1st especially after a burnout. IMO sell those and get a gate shifter.

I had a B/M mega shifter in my 71 Grande, it just fell apart in no time. Replaced it with a B/M quick silver and had no problems at all.
Okay, if it's a mega, the small handle is IIRC the reverse lockout. If it's a star, you detent shift into 1st, then pull the small handle, and the shifter goes all the way back. Then you can ratchet forward.
I'd rather have a quicksilver. Full ratchet, reverse lockout is accomplished by pulling up on the stick.
