- 1972 Coupe w/ unmolested 1969 351W 4V, headers and a T5.
Yes I know that this topic has generally been beat to death all over the web, but after a solid half an hour of googling I haven't really found any answers that suit my specific situation...
For those of you who may not have read my intro, I have a 1972 Coupe that is more or less stock and in good shape, which I'm looking to build more for the corners than straight lines. I'm not imagining that this will be out tearing it up at open track events on a regular basis, but I'd like to have fun when I do make it out.
On to the question of engines...and this question was brought up by another thread which linked another forum, bla bla bla, really on to the question!
I found these weights all in lbs...
221-302W = 460
302 Boss = 500
351W = 525
351C-Boss = 550
351M-400 = 575
332-428FE = 625
427 HEMI = 680
429-460 = 720
After reading in that other forum that a 460 with aluminum heads and intake is pretty much small block weight, (hard to believe) I was wondering how light a 351W would be with aluminum heads and intake? This is where my lack of experience/knowledge comes in, but I'm thinking that would drop conservatively 50 or 60 lbs? More?
How much would this noticeably effect the weight balance of the car when driving?
Thanks guys!
