Do any of you 71er's out there have this hood trim? How rare is it?

Did it come on 72-73 models? This was on my 71 conv when I bought it

My 71 vert had it on it and I thought it was aftermarket and tossed it.

OK - now tell me that it is worth serious $$$$$

Paul, it is rare, they do show up on e-bay every now and then, but I'm not going to tell you what they sell for so you don't cry :)

Yep early 71 only seemed to have these, I got a set off of a early 71 convertible for cheap but they can go for varying amounts.

I have it on my '72 Convertible. It was built in October of 1971.

Fact is, just last weekend I was cleaning up the hood section to install it. Now I'm worrying about where the fender pieces are.

Whoa... glad I saved mine... thanks for the posts

Yeah I had to look on Ebay,

40 each for the fenders and not available for the hood.

betting 100.00 for the hood......

Did I mention that I tossed them out?

(insert cry here)

1971 only. Not available on Mach 1 or Boss 351.

Guys, this is one of the more unknown items for me. I stand by my previous post in this thread but just as most of us on here, I would like to know more about the offering of this trim piece including production beginning and ending time. This is not a very easy one to pin down.

Great discussion.

Mine has it, I had to go check the garage to make sure.It was manufactured in November of 1970.:D

Does anyone have a 71 sales brochure... it might be under "bright trim"?

I looked. Didn't see anything but I did notice the artwork depicting the different models and the Hardtop, Sportsroof and Convertible appear to be drawn with this rear hood trim showing.

And I also looked at my 1971 Ford Shop Manual. It shows exterior mouldings for the hood but does not show this rear hood trim.

The mystery continues...

Wish mine had it but it was probably tossed by the PO...and he was also from MO. :dodgy:
I will just go to the nearest landfill - they should be laying around in great big piles.

Problem Solved!

Somewhere I read about them, I don't remember if it was here or on an other site, this was a while ago..

Good idea...Mine should be somewhere close to kansas city :p

Hey all thanks for the feedback... I may have solved it.. somewhat,

I found this in my copy of Ford 71 Mustang Illustrated Facts Book...

Under MAJOR STANDARD FEATURES..

Exterior

It states Bright front hood and fender mouldings... which outline the grill area... then curiously enough, down the column.. it says Bright metal windshield and hood lip moulding
