Hi guys,

I don't have a Mustang yet, but I want one so bad I can taste it - so can I come in? LOL Mustangs have always caught my eye, but now it's really getting bad because I get a ton of Mustang AM-8 track units in for repair at the end of the year.

So here I slave away over a hot soldering iron in a guy's radio, wondering what color his Mustang is, what size engine, how far along he is on the resto, how long he's owned it, etc. You guys are great about sending pictures, but man I wanna DRIVE one!

Anyway, I have a cool book or two that go into how many Stangs of each type were made per year, pretty detailed specs on a lot of 'em, etc. I'm happy to share any information I have on Stangs, but admit that most of it has to do with the radio and 8 track guts.

Happy to share that too if anyone needs a schematic, etc. I would LOVE to see pics of your cars, even under the dash and hood in case someone just got a new camera and wants to play :) Pics of the radio (including repros and non-period gear) and descriptions of your speaker setup would be even better.

Feel free to send cool stuff to [email protected] - and feel free to ask for any Stang Stuff I might have that would be fun for you.

Cheers guys!

Hi Barry from all of us here in Australia.

Now ain't that a specialised skill! You don't see too many 8track repair dudes about, I bet.

It'll be a bit like the vhs and beta repair shops, I'd imagine...

May you be the last man standing! (Like the last horsewhip company, the reason they were the last was because they were the best at it).

Jimbo.

G'day Bazza from another Aussie. Now starting with just a radio is a rather daunting resto project ;) Welcome to the 71-73 mustang world the hippest trip in ponydom.

Welcome Barry.

Quite a few of us in Arizona there just might be one of us near by. I'd bring my car by but I'm not that far along yet. Still if you are close to Tucson your welcome to come take a look.

Barry I have your website book marked for when I am ready to send off my 8 track for restoration. Your website has some cool stuff on it. Could I ask a few questions related to the 8 track for a 72?

Still trying to figure out if the tape door said Mustang or not on the stock 72 radio?

What ohm amount should the speakers be to work with the stock radio?

Any recommendations on the correct set of speakers to by to work with a stock radio? I would imagine stock speakers would be the best, but they are hard to find given their age and deterioration of the speaker material.

Once I have recovered abit from the major restoration expenses the radio will be going out for restoration. You are on the top of my list, even more so now that you have joined our little mustang family here on 7173. WELCOME.

I also have his page bookmarked for a future restoration.

Hi and ::welcome:: from Luxembourg, Europe.
