Have you decided whether or not you are going to use the other 429/C6 that you have in this project?

What is the origin of the 429 you are using and are you stroking it and while I am "on it", did you stoke the '73?

As others have said, LOOKING GOOD!

Haven't decided on the engine combo yet. The 429 is out of a 71 LTD, the one in my 73 came out of a T-Bird, 70 or 71, no I did not stroke it. Its just a mild build, 429 block bored .030 over, stock crank, 268h comp cams, comp cams valve train, stock DOVE heads, Performer intake, Carter 625 carb, C6 trans with shift kit and a 3.25 Trac. lock, just a nice street cruiser.

What rim and tire combo you using there?? Aluminum 17 magnums....love the look of those!! Look like they will fit nicely when your all set and done.....

.

The rims are US Mags Bandits, 18x8 frt and 18x9 rear. For tires I'm running Nitto Extreme nt555 285/40/18 on the rear. I haven't decided on what size for the front yet, either a 245/40/18 or 255/45/18. In the picture I have one of the rear tires mounted on the front just to see what it would look like. I think I may have to lower the rear an inch or two to get the stance I want. It sits a little high right now. I have 1" lowering springs in the front and new stock leafs in the back. Here's a picture with the rims mounted on my red Mach. It still looks like it sits a little high. That's with stock leafs also, they're 13 yrs old.

Here's a few pics of my 72 Mach project.

That's great work with the paint! Who's kit did you use? Really nice!

When you say "kit" are you talking about what kind of paint? For the Red car or the Blue one?

I bought the wheels off eBay, they were on sale at the time and they had a coupon for $100 off the price of 4. I found the tires on Craigslist.

Finally got motivated this week and started on the body work on my 72 Mach. My plan is to get the body work as close to perfect as posible then epoxy prime, slicksand polyester primer, guide coat then start block sanding. Nice rim choice. I just ordered the same rim from American Racing and they are taking a long time to finish them. The car is also looking great.

Thanks. I've always liked the look of Magnum 500 but wanted them in 18". These were the closest I could get to that without spending a fortune.

Awesome work. The car is turning out great!

Thank you. I'm not coming along quite as fast as you are but I'm getting there slowly. Keep your progress updates coming.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well i have some time off for the holidays so I'm getting close to being done with the bodywork, I know the pictures do not show much progress than the last time I posted but its getting there. My plan is to epoxy prime then shoot slicksand polyester primer next week if things go good. This will be the first time I've every used it. They say its really thick, like a sprayable body filler. If anyone has every used this stuff before feel free to give me any tips.IMG_20141215_092631_164.thumb.jpg.558bc52920c8d30b0961da7b55b20917.jpgIMG_20141215_092647_567.thumb.jpg.201259a417f7def093fb4b8635966a50.jpgIMG_20141216_140013_848.thumb.jpg.a7e970f0f09172976274230244f20c2e.jpgIMG_20141216_140032_009.thumb.jpg.0030107fd21081c81393e74e9f3a7c78.jpg
