How can you tell if you have to just re pack your front wheel bearings or replace them?

If you replace them, should you also replace Cups and seals?

Found a little play on my wheel thinking it was the Ball joint.

Not sure if I should just repack the bearings or replace them.

Thanks

If you tighten the nut and still have some play, then they need to be replaced. When I did mine I didn't think they were too bad but was surprised that the ride was much quieter after replacing the bearings and races. I didn't attribute any noise when driving before to the bearings but obviously there was.

Do you need a special tool to take out the old races or put in the new ones?

I have never done this before so I just want to make sure that I can do the job with the tools that I have.

Thanks for the support guys!

There are special tools for doing the job. It can be done by carefully using a punch working from side to side making sure the race is going in straight, you do not want the race getting cocked in the hub. It's OK to put a new race on an old bearing but a new bearing must have a new race.

Spend 140 get rotor and bearings. Peace of mind!
