Gents-

I have owned one 1971 429 CJ Mustang, and it had twist locks and the blacked out hood. I have looked at another, and it has NO twist locks, and NO blacked out hood, and the hood does, indeed, look original. No locks ever that I can see on the radiator support....just bumpers....no sign of the retaining mechanism ever being in place. Marti confirms it is a Ram Air CJ car. I have not seen a Ram Air car without locks and the black out treatment. Could this be correct? Anyone seen one like this before?

Many Thanks!

Sounds funky. The hood pins and tutone paint were all a part of the ram-air system.

There are publicity photos of an early 71 with ram air but no tutone, but it was never officially offered that way.

Maybe the car has had a nedw hood installed at some point?

Any chance you could get us pictures and/or the VIN?

Sounds like it could have been the victim of a front-ender back in the day and well repaired by a good bodyshop.

Yep, I would love to see the VIN# too. Always interesting to compare mine with another 429 car. There is one registered on this site that is very close in production to mine. That reminds me, I need to register mine on this site, I always forget about doing that.
