Plastic shavings in oil pick up screen? What the???

My son & I pulled the 93GT 5.0 engine due to low oil pressure. We found plastic shavings in the oil pick up tube!! I have no idea where the plastic came from.

Where could the plastic come from?

I cannot really tell by the pictures but I had a 351 C that locked up an oil pump from picking up parts of the valve stem oil umbrellas. Do the pieces look anything like that? How do the valve seals look?

they kinda look like the valve stem oil umbrellas to me too. they get hard and brittle from age and heat and break off.
