What is this?

I found a small piece of metal in the trans pan of my C6 transmission. Kinda looks like maybe the tip of a lever. I couldn't see where it may have broken loose. I bought the trans with a 460 attached and just dropped them in my '73. Still a few weeks from starting and driving for the first time.

It looks like part of the shift lever to me. My guess is that when you go to put the car in gear it's probably not going to work. Hard to tell though from the pic though. Look at 1:54 into the video and I think that's the part that broke off the shift lever.

It looks like part of the selector. the inside shift lever reaches in under the valve body. There is a u shaped end on it. This looks like the base and side of the u bend.

Yep that probably what it is. I've pulled many c4 and c6 trans apart. Luckily its rather easy repair.

Yeah its about a 10 min job. It is part of the kick down lever, here is a good breakdown of the parts, it's part 7D261 on the diagram:
