1971 Mach 1 'M-Code' manual
Hi!

I've got a factory Hurst 4-speed manual that appears to have an afternarket wood / rubber T-handle shifter fitted.

My Mach 1 was built in September 1970.

I really want the factory look, but cannot definitively find whether the thread size is 3/8-16 or 3/8-24.

Could anyone please advise me which thread is correct and which is the factory correct handle / knob?

Since the handle is flat it could be a 1970 OEM part or aftermarket replacement. The 1970 OEM was 3/8x16. Take the handle off, carry it to a hardware store an determine which bolt screws in properly. Or use a thread gauge on the shifter handle threads. A proper handle would be an improvement. Chuck
