Does anyone know what the ( R ) stands for in the CJ-R.

My marti report shows engine as a 429 CJ-R, I know the CJ stands for cobra jet but, what's the R?

No. The - R indicates an engineering change to the original casting = the 18th version for the D0OE-6090 head. The letter following the casting number is always an indication of these changes.

Factory CJ and SCJ motors both carried the same DOOE-R Part Numbered Head castings. We are talking about Factory Iron Heads. CJ motor = Hyd Cam, SCJ Motor = Solid Cam
