I want to purchase an exhaust system from CJ Pony parts with flowmaster mufflers. The pipes willbe 2-1/4" dia. my question is when assembling the sections of pipe and using the clamps is there and high temp mastic to use on the joints to insure there are no leaks in the system. Any ideas? the car isa '71 coupe with a 302,2V

I've never used any type of sealant and never had a problem. Just don't over tighten the clamps and you should be fine.
+1. I've never heard of exhaust system "sealant". Also, make sure the clamps are the correct size for the pipe you're using and you shouldn't have any troubles.

or you can look into the new band type clamps, they will seal the pipes but you can still remove them later with out problems!!
