My Car
1973 red convertible 351 4 V
I have a couple of questions. What is the correct size battery for a 1973 vert with a 351 Cleveland. Second questions what was the difference between a regular battery and the heavy duty one that my car came with for an extra change of 13.52

According to my references, the following applies:

351 2V (Manual Transmission) = 45 Amp-Hour Rated Battery as standard

351 2V (Automatic) = 55 Amp-Hour Rated as standard

351 4V = 55 Amp-Hour Rated as standard

The 70 Amp-Hour Rated battery was optional on all three applications.

The correct battery group should be a 24R. The difference is that the heavy duty battery will have more cranking amps, more cold cranking amps (an important consideration where you have cold winters), and more reserve power after it has been used.
