Well I have searched the site and can't come up with a 100% conclusion. Will a 275/60/15 fit in a 72 fb?By my measurement it's very close and the only way I can see it working is with a 8" wheel with a 5" backspace.Id really like to stay with the Magnum 500 wheel.Does anyone have the 100% answer on if and how this will work? And does anyone offer a Mag 500 in 8" with a 5" bs?

Yes it will. I had them on my car at one time. If your springs are weak, or your car is lowered you might have to roll the fender lips-I did not.

I am running 315/35/17's now on 10.5 wide rims with about 6.5 backspace and still no interference with stock sheetmetal.

To answer your questions:

Yes, Not Necessary, and No:

  • Yes - 275s will fit quite easily on a standard 8" Magnum 15x8 rim
  • Not Necessary to have 5" backspacing on an 8" rim
  • No - they do not make Magnum 500s with 5" backspacing. They do make 15x10s with 5" backspacing, however... then you could go with 295s.

Hope that helps.

I have Calvert split mono leafs at stock ride height.I guess I should've mentioned I don't want the tire sticking out past the fender.I have Calvert adjustable shocks too.

The 15x10 will look awesome. I have 18 inch rims with 285s and there is room for more, even without rolled fenders.

c9zx your car looks very similar to mine. Are those 275s on the rear?

Hi guys. I am considering the same combo on my 72 Coupe. 275 x 60 x 15 Magnum 500 rear and 225 front. What would be best, a 10" or 8" rim for the rear?

This is a 275/60/15 tyre on a 10" rim. Not sure of the backspacing because I've never measured it.

Ok so does anybody know if a 275/60 will work with a 8" wheel with 4" bs?That's what I have now.

4" back spacing will rub on the fender lip. I have 275/60/15 tires on 15x8 Cragar SS wheels with 4.25" back spacing. The tires rub slightly on the fender lips when going over bumps. 4.5" or 5" back spacing would be ideal on a 15x8 rim.

On the 15x8 Magnums with 5" backspacing, American Racing Wheels makes an all aluminum Magnum 500, p/n AR 500, with custom back spacing, 3.00" to 5.5". Only thing they are kind of expensive. Hope this helps.
