OR "sounds like"

well we all know about "bathroom on the right"

What about Phil Collins Tonights ToNight Tonight

I'm coming down, coming down like a monkey but it's alright

I'm going down, going down like a monkey but it's alright

All these years I wasnt paying attention ...just ASSUMED I was wrong.:s Is there something he needs to tell us about?

Peter Gabriel, Games Without Frontiers

She sells opium

True story time...

Circa 1976. The song was "Saturday Night" by the Bay City Rollers.

I was 12, the kid across the street was 10.

The song had several reiterations of "S A T U R D A Y night"

The kid kept singing "Hey, Hey, beer walk, beer walk!"

He had a speech impediment. Turns out his speech imped. was due to a hearing imped, and him singing to that song helped his parents diagnose the issue.

Never could figure out the meaning to these lyrics, except maybe an LSD trip or something...

There's a giant doing cartwheels a statue wearin' high heels

Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn

A dinosaur Victrola list'ning to Buck Owens

Doo doo doo lookin' out my back door

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band

Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon?

Doo, doo doo

Wond'rous apparition provided by magician

Jimi Hendrix says "kiss the sky" in Purple Haze, no?

Back in the day my friends and I would go to dance clubs. A lot of the time it was with some girls I worked with at a local ice cream shop and it was all in good fun.. (until relationships started/ended but that is another story).

Anyways, at the time the 'mony mony' remake by billy idol was all the rage. Somehow we change the song to:

"You make me feel"

(background singers) 'like a pork chop' 'like a pork chop'

I don't know why I felt it necessary to share that with you all...

How about Depeche Mode's "Your own...personal...cheez-wiz"?

Yeah, "My Back Door" by Fogerty is just too weird I really don't know how you can come up with something like it. The hardest thing for me was to figure out what I was hearing. After all I'm not a native speaker so I often rely on context when there is a word I can't identify.

But with this there is no context whatsoever!! When I looked them up one day (because we wanted to cover the song with the band) I knew I never could have figured that one out. :)

Hendrix' Purple Haze is the classic one where it sounds like he sings "Excuse me while I kiss this guy." :)

I remember the Beatles had a "Chicken to ride" :)

Are we looking for lyrics than can be misinterpreted or that are just plain weird like the Fogerty one?

Manfred Mann and Bruce Springsteen both did

"Blinded by the light"

What I hear when I listen is

Wrapped up like a douche

another runner in the night
But that is what Manfred Mann sang, they misunderstood Bruce's use of 'deuce' and thought he said 'douche'.
There is actually a term for misheard lyrics, it's 'Mondegreen'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondegreen

Simple Minds "Alive and Kicking" sounds an awful lot like 'I like Chicken'...

"another one rides the bus....another one rides the bus...another gets on another gets on ...another gets on....another one rides the bus"

aka "Another one bites the dust"

Nobody had weirder lyrics then the Beatles. It's amazing what LSD brings out of the human mind. She came in through the bathroom window. Lucy in the sky with diamonds. We all live in a yellow submarine. I'd say something about the Rolling stones but I could never understand what Mick was singing no matter how many times I played it. I loved it anyway.
