Saw this posted on Facebook by a classic Mustang club. Just can't figure out why anyone would "forget" a generation. Things like this really irritate me.

Well, they left out the 67/68 body style, as well as the 71-73s.

And it looks like they repeated the 94-98 style twice, and then left out the 99-04 "New Edge" style.

Yeah, another slight by the late-model gang.

The late-model 'Stang fans have been basking in the glory of the original Mustang's legendary shadow for years...and they now seem to have become convinced that they are on the same level as the originals. The originals are legends and classics...the newer ones are great cars deserving of thier own history, they don't need to co-op ours.

That has always kind of bugged me.

Corvettes have it right: Each new generation sets the bar higher and begins anew its own style. No Corvette (that I can recall) tried to steal away the thunder from past generations...they boldly broke tradition and new ground with each generation.

I love how they also made 'em all get smaller, too. rofl

Also, FWIW - I have the '71-'73 profile on a T-Shirt I wore to the car show last October. Very similar to this:

Doesn't surprise me.

Mustang generation identifications are usually all over the place.

Here is one I came up with. 2015 is the beginning of the 8th generation...

1. 64.5-68

2. 69-70

3. 71-73

4. 74-78

5. 79-93

6. 94-04

7. 05-14

8. 15-

Ray

Ray, the 94-04 should be split into two generations:

94-98: "The Schwarzenegger"

99-04: "New Edge" (Which is really a softening of the earlier "Rambo" styling prototype)

Aha. THX. I'll have to take your word for it as I am lost on the newer bodystyles... But now I wonder if even the fox body years need to be split up 4-eyes vs... ?? Oh well - work in progress.
