Instruments light not working

Hey guys how's it going? I installed a new radio w/ amp & crossovers,and now my dash lights won't work. The Connector I cut off to power up the stereo has 3 wires (white pwr,white with stripe - remote I guess,n blue for ground) & if I connect them all together n turn the key my dash lights work whether I pull light button on or not. I've done almost everything and it still won't work. Did not have this problem b4 installing the stereo. Could it be I'm using a wrong wire to power up radio. Horn n lighter works fine n I'm using power from the lighter (yellow wire) for stereos memory.
