Vinyl Top Bright Trim Clips

Since I got the top section of my 1973 Coupe painted on Monday, I have started to look at replacing the Vinyl Top Trim clips. Ford Part # D0GY-16A076-A and they are as elusive as ever!

I found this early Forum thread that mentioned a tough time finding the correct ones.

I have search around the Net and found a few NOS for a small bit of change. Has anybody had any luck locating any or come up with a substitute solution that will work! I have emailed Don @ Ohio Mustang Supply on this request.

All,

I might have found clips similar to the OEM versions on www.Ebay.com. The description for these clips are

Mouse over image to zoom

NOS-1970-1971-MERCURY-CYCLONE-MONTEGO-HOOD-TRIM-MOLDING-RETAINER-CLIPS-LOT-4x

I will need to go back and measure to make sure they are the correct size. I will keep you posted.

Got the clips in and they will slide into the channel with one issue. The spring wire will not slide in. The fix, since they they are snug, is to cut the spring wire off.

Might want to make sure you are putting them in correctly. I parted out a Grande a few years back. I have some trim if yours is bad.

Well, thank you much for the offer on the trim! The clips are for 1/2 to 3/4 trim. I went into this purchase not knowing right off hand the width of the trim. I was lucky that I can use them.

Just got in the C7SZ-6540248-B yesterday. They are the other vinyl top trim or molding clips required to mount to the top. They are getting harder to find NOS ones, so Dennis Carpenter is now reproducing them. Interesting enough, they are from the Ford pickup truck line.
