Thread revival time...

Scott, since you didn't use the Motsenbocker's Lift Off on the lenses, do the Maguier's products take the contact cement off of the lenses? That's the part I'm struggling with right now.

Also, what glue do you use to reassemble the lenses and housings?

Thanks a ton for the videos, by the way. They are lifesavers.

Q, You do great work and obviously have great skill and experience. I've watched many of your videos and you may have a future in producing short films. One thing has mystified me since the first video. What is the meaning of "peeps", other than the generally accepted sound that a baby chicken makes? Keep up the good work. Chuck

All,

So I got my 1973 tail lamp assembly disassembled per Q's video part two. Thank You Q! Now, what to use to get the ancient glue off of the red lens. I was look at Goo Gone as one solution to use.

It states that it is safe on plastics. What do you think?

Update

I read that in a review of glue removal on clear plastic container that Goo Gone would eat a little of the clear plastic container leaving in opaque. Need to test beofre using on the lenses.

Update,

I found the Motsenbocker's Latex based Paint Remover and Goo Gone's Pro Power. I was able to remove the old glue/cement from the tail light pod with Goo Gone. I then followed up with Motsenbocker's Latex based Paint Remover. Clean as a whistle. Here is the after Goo Gone and Motsenbocker's picture. After drying for an hour, I sprayed it with Krylon's new Fusion for Plastic® Satin White paint (1) on the backside. I am now thinking about using the Krylon's Fusion for Plastic® bright white inside to make it more reflective of the light bulb. I will post the after pictures later in the week.

I would like to thank Qcode351mach for his videos on how to restore original parts.
