No as long as the flow direction is correct.
I was going to put one on my car but someone told me that they tend to break and should not use them, some car shows will not let you in with one.

That is what I heard, is does make sense. Just thought I would pass that info on!!!!! Be careful!!

 
I've had a glass fuel filter on mine for about 6 years. It is located where I can easily see it when I open the hood. No problems at all, but it's not like it is a daily driver with a lot of mileage put on it. At first it was the only fuel filter I used after replacing the gas tank, fuel pump, etc., but eventually I reinstalled the factory style filter at the carb, but kept the glass filter too. Mine is mounted horizontal.
