Buy an Optima if looking for a new battery.

Bought one for my Mustang.

Long story short......

Recently had the ignition switch "stick" and let the battery run down

to the point that even the clock quit working.

Totally dead battery, new Optima. Went back out four hours later

and just for kicks put the key in the ignition and the car fired right up!

I am a believer, albeit they are a little pricey.

A little pricey, indeed. Almost $200 for a Red-Top!

But, then again, I bought an Interstate for my Mom's '96 T-Bird a few months ago, and that thing was around $135.

Another believer here. Last year I forgot to turn off the lights and drained the Optima completely. The fuse for the buzzer was gone for some reason so I did not notice it.

Started the car with jumper cables from another car's battery, drive home and never even cared to recharge it.

It's worked ever since.

Btw it lasted the whole winter break without even unhooking the battery.

I just remember when they were something like $29 for an "OK" battery, $39 for a "Good" battery, and $49 for a "Best" battery.

When Optimas first came out, I remember being appalled at the $129 price tag.

Just sayin'.

All,

I have a friend of who just bought one and he mentioned that a friend of his who had one for 10 years that is still working. Go figure! The concept and design. IMO, is much better than your conventional batteries. One my 73 Coupe is on the road, I will be purchasing one.
