1971 Mach 1 Grille - what do I need?

Hi all,

finishing off the restoration (OK, I know it's never done ;-), one of the last things is to return my grille to the 1971 mach 1 style.

Someone in the past has replaced the grille with a 1973 (see picture below taken before restoration). It currently has vertically oriented sport lamps and doors around the head lights.

If I want to go back to the 1971 Mach 1 grille, what parts do I need?

- 1971 Mach 1 grille & moldings (obviously)

- running horse emblem

- the horizontally oriented sport lamps (are they different or can I reuse the ones from the '73 grille?)

- the 73 grille has what I think are called headlight doors. From pictures I've seen it looks the '71 doesn't have them? Right?

- Anything else?

I can't help you with the other details, but the 73 was the only one to have those "headlight doors". 71 & 72 did not have them.

Good thing you are going back to the 71 grille.

I'm not sure, but I think you have to change the fenders too.

I thought the fenders were only an issue because of the 73 bumper. This one seems to have a 71-72 front bumper. Correct me if I'm wrong......

big thank you to all who replied to my question. my fenders, bumpers and hood latch support are definately '71. I even had to build a custom bracket to mount the '73 grille to the support.

I think all my questions have been answered and I know now what parts I will have to get.
