Hey gang- Anyone out there running synthetic F type tranny fluid in their power steering pump? Anyone see a reason not to try it?

Thanks

I haven't tried it, but it's probably OK to use in the power steering. You don't have to worry about friction materials (bands and disks) in the power steering, just lubrication and transference of energy. Plus, you likely have a Saginaw (GM) box which used Dexron in GM vehicles, and it had whale oil in it for a friction modifier.

Synthetic fluid might have a better tolerance to heat and less friction.

I'm taking next week off, so I'll have time to play with the car- still trying to eradicate that darn squealing form the steering system. :p

I'll let ya know how it goes.
