1972 mustang grande
planning on swapping in a 460 this summer.i've done some research and it looks like the 71 429 mustang drivers side manifold is different than the torino because of steering box location. i am wondering if any other manifolds will fit like from a bronco or f150? sure would be nice to get a manifold for $10 and the local pull-a-part!!

You are apparently correct Dave as it relates to the limited application for the left side exhaust manifold.

According to the "Hollander", the only other vehicles to share that EXACT exhaust manifold are:

1971 429 Cougar

1971429 Ford and Mercury Police vehicles

That having been said, it is noted that there are a number of exhaust manifolds that will fit, including:

1972 - 1973 429 Torino

1973 460 Torino

1972 - 1973 429 Montego

1973 460 Montego

1972 429 Ford Passenger (Police)

1973 460 Ford Passenger (Police)

1972 429 Mercury Police

1973 460 Mercury Police

Hope this helps!

I know this post is older than Methuselah, I cam across this posting regarding manifold fitment from you. I have an opportunity to purchase some 72 Police manifolds for my 429 CJ 71 Mach 1 with power steering and want to be sure the driver side will clear. In your post you referenced 72 Passenger (Police). You are saying that it will clear in a 71 Mustang? The part number is D2OE-9231-AA1. Even they are pricey these days so I'm hoping to get it right:cool: . Thanks for any insight.
