My mechanic has a new pet, a nine month old named Meka (Mee-ka).

I would call this a "save". The puppy has been passed around for eight months and now has a home. There are no papers for the dog but she appears to be a pure breed judging from the markings, stance and several other indicators including behavior. Services are available to test the dog's DNA, $85 and you submit a swab. Question being, is the service worth the cost and is it accurate?

The picture is of poor quality, but if I did not include a picture I would hear about it.

Question is not if its worth it but if it matters at all.

If the dog is nice and he wants to keep it, what difference does it make if it's got a pedigree or not?

I've had a Persian cat whose mother was a a Grand European Champion and whose father was European Vice Champion but I like my stray cat Shelby, which we found when she was about 8 weeks old, just the same.
