The driver's seat doesn't seem to have any catches. It slides all the way forward when I get out, and does with quick brake / reversing as well.

I have yet to inspect, but has this happened to anyone else?

I'm thinking for the time being I could throw some sort of tension bracket on just to hold the seat in place, but would eventually want a proper fix.

Pull the seat. Only 4 bolts. Flip it over on a bench and take a look. Might just be that the release handle is stuck or the catch is snapped off. Anyhow I have my seats out right now so if you can snap a picture of it and post it up I can snap one of mine tonight and post it so we can compare and diagnose.

Not much to them. Just a

in rail. Like he said it comes out quick 4 bolts. Theres a spring pulling the dog back into the track. When you do move seat lever your pulling against spring. Make that spring is PULLING the lever back the other way. Or the little dog/tooth on end just got busted off somehow.

Here's some pics of the seat bottom.

Second pic is what the dog looks like when released.

Third pic is best I could do of what it looks like engaged.

This is really helpful. I may pull the seat on my lunch break to see if I can figure out what's wrong with it.

Let us know what you find. Post some pics. I am guessing it is either the tension spring for the handle is missing or broke or the dog is broken off on the end of the handle where it locks in.

The dog is gone, must've snapped off. Any idea where I could get a new lever? I'm kinda waiting until I have a few more things in mind before I hit the junkyard.[/align]

Post a WTB ad on here. I had to get a new seat track for my drivers seat just this past month. Got one from a member on here at a great price. It is easier to replace the whole track just 4 bolts and it comes off the seat and right back on. Or check on ebay too.

Or try these if you don't have any luck on here.

No need to apologize! This is very much appreciated. I'll see what I can dig up, if not looks like cougarparts has the rail for a decent price.

I suspect that the lever is the same for any number of ford parts if you feel like a parts yard run and repairing your current tracks. In the meantime, if you know where you want the seat to sit, you could secure the tracks with a bolt or two.

I was thinking of throwing a bolt through the old rail to hold it in place. Only thing is I probably won't get around to fixing it properly if that works!

I would just order and fix it the right way. For safety reasons if nothing else and the parts are not expensive and it is a very easy fix. Prob less work to fix it right than put a bolt in it.

Thank you for being the voice of reason
